Dear Members,
Its been immensely satisfying watching IE grow from its dormant status to a groundbreaking, nationally connected entrepreneurial powerhouse in less than 18 months. 2009/2010 has been our best year yet from world class events (Guy Kawasaki, Giles Andrews...) to the incubation and mentoring of over 30 start-ups some raising 6 figure funding and various public aclaims.
The Ideas Empowered competition (1st of its kind at Imperial) has in only two runs gained visibility and respect in the London Enterprise scene thanks in great part to high quality entries and an army of mentors/judges. IE has been closely involved with the creation of NACUE (National Consortium of University Entrepreneurs) and the launch of Enterprise Alliance UK in Parliament early this year.
IE has also cultivated strong links both internally at the highest level of College administration and externally with various enterprise networks, businesses, media channels and continues to expand and integrate them further as we speak.
IE is in a healthier financial position but what is more the level of member activity and the quality of the feedback we received has steadily improved which is a tribute to our members dedication and the hard work of our comittee who have performed an outstanding job: Jonathan (VP), Thijs (Treasurer), Michael (Events Officer) and Ivo (External relations). Sadly the time for the 09/10 committee is drawing to a close, and we now find ourselves at the point in the year where a new committee must be elected.
Applications from all interested non final year students of Imperial college are welcome. Please read this email carefully for information on how to stand a chance of joining the IE team next year.
Before we all burry ourselves in revision I would once again like to thank you for your support and giving me the honour of leading IE.
Do stay involved with IE even after graduation and feel free to keep in touch.

Imperial Entrepreneurs hosted the Ideas Empowered finals last Friday at the Imperial Business School.
We had 6 fantastic pitches and our competition prizefund was awarded as follows:
Move-it 1st Place, winning £2k + £5k of office space.

Move-it is a simple kit of self-adhesive cardboard parts, which transforms a package into an easy-to-use trolley.
BaseHunter 2nd Place, winning £1k + services.
Sourcing physical DNA parts is time–consuming and can be expensive. Our DNA sourcing tool, 'BaseHunter', streamlines DNA acquisition
SizeConnect 3rd Place, winning services.
A size recommendation engine for clothing: a revolution for online retailers.
Congratulations to the winners, and thanks to all of the participants of Ideas Empowered 2010!
Also a big thankyou to the judges
