The Indian Graduate Students’ Association is a non-profit organization committed to cater to the needs and concerns of Indian graduate students and provide an accessible platform to present their identity within the international community at University of Florida (UF).
IGSA will promote the smooth assimilation of Indian graduate students, primarily of international student status, into the UF environment and local Gainesville community. The organization will work towards maintaining and nurturing unity among students of all nationalities. We will celebrate and learn from the rich cultural diversity on campus and co-ordinate with other organizations in events of mutual goals and interest.
IGSA aims to provide a forum for the Indian graduate students, primarily of international student status, to meet and present their views and encourage active involvement with Student Government at UF in making constructive contributions to decisions affecting graduate students’ community.
The organization will showcase Indian culture and heritage to the International community through cultural events, festivals and other recreational activities. It will actively participate in welcoming the new students and conduct orientation sessions to introduce them to US way of life. IGSA will help to provide opportunities for all graduate students and their spouses to interact with the UF and local Gainesville community. It will also provide a medium for networking with professionals for the graduate students through information sessions regarding academics and jobs. Finally it will also try to collaborate towards the development of the local Gainesville community. All in all, we will strive to serve as a home away from home for the students and ensure a positive contribution from its members towards UF and the local Gainesville community.
