As the team will be going for a competition at Sheffield this Saturday (6 Feb), there will be no beginners team but Ballroom Goldstar will be on as usual.
Spring is on it's way, and it's almost time for our biggest event of the year - Spring Ball! Mark down the 6 Mar, Saturday in your calendar to come for a night of dancing to a live band at the prestigious Bloomsbury Ballroom! More details will be given out shortly.

Hi all,
All classes are on as usual this week except for Latin Goldstar which will be cancelled. Please check the calendar for the times and venues if you're unsure.
Please also be reminded to purchase dance club membership online if you have not done so and to bring either your membership cards or validation email printout for every class as we will be enforcing a very strict check. For those without membership proof and not on our members list, we'll be charging the non-members rate of £8 instead of the heavily subsidised rate of £3.50 per class.

Hi all,
Some permanent changes to the schedule:
Latin beginners team on Thursdays moved to Tuesdays at 8pm in the Union Activity Space commencing 26 Jan.
Classes next week:
1. All latin classes on Tuesdays (19 Jan) cancelled
2. Beginners team from 6-8pm on Wednesday (20 Jan) will be a self practice with mixture of ballroom and latin music played
3. Ballroom technique at 7pm on Thursday (21 Jan) cancelled
4. Latin beginners team at 6pm on Thursday (21 Jan) cancelled
Also, do note that Ballroom Goldstar this Saturday (16 Jan) is on as usual.

Dear Beginners,
I know this is pretty last minute, but the beginner's latin practice today will be at 6pm while the ballroom practice will be at 7pm. This arrangement is just for today as Satin, our other latin coach will be replacing Mansi for today.
For those exclusively ballroom people who turned up early, I would find a place for you guys to practice.
Ballroom beginners today would be a free practice session where music will be played and you guys could practice yourself. Natasha is currently away competiting and would not be back till next week. This free practice session would simulate a competition environment where waltz and quickstep music would be played alternately and you guys would be able to practice in a dance floor with other couples dancing too. Its good practice for the upcoming competitions, so do turn up. And I would be there to help out and answer questions.
Please inform your fellow beginners about this as some might miss this email. Thank you.

Hello everyone!
Hope you all had a wonderful christmas and new year and looking forward to the exciting term ahead!
There are some permanent changes to the timetable this term:
1. Salsa classes are moved to Mondays in the Tower Rooms (first floor of Sherfield building) with the same timing of 6pm for Beginners, 7pm for Improvers and 8pm for Intermediate.
2. Latin Gold and Goldstar moved to Tuesdays at 8pm and 9pm respectively. Venue TBC - please check the calendar on Monday (11 Jan).
Please also do check the calendar regularly for any updates!

Hello everyone,
Just a reminder that tomorrow is the Dance Club’s Christmas ball!
Where: JCR
When: 7pm
Dress code: Festive and glamorous!
What:
- Salsa, Ballroom, Latin and commercial chart music played all night long. This is the perfect social opportunity for all you salsa dancers to put those moves you've been learning into practice. The same goes to all those who come to the social beginners and medal classes and hopefully you'll meet lots of lovely, new people in the dance club, who might even teach you a few new moves. Beginners team - please come along and show everyone how much you've learned in the last 2 1/2 months whilst being able to practise for the comps ahead.
- Guitar hero plus a prize for the top score of the evening
- Pass the parcel
- Ballroom and Latin demos
- Secret Santa (please bring a gift worth £5 or less if you would like to take part that is preferably unisex or clearly marked whether it is for a boy or a girl)
- Free food and drink (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) so get there early before it's all gone!

Hi everyone,
Keep your Saturday, 12 Dec free because it's our annual Christmas Ball!
We've got food (think mince pies), snacks and drinks - both alcoholic and non-alcoholic absolutely FREE. There also be exciting events such as Secret Santa, pass the parcel, and a latin and ballroom demonstration! For those of you who don't want to dance the night away, there'll also be a Guitar Heros set for you to rock up a storm! Last but not least, come dressed and glammed up as we've got a photographer snapping photos the whole night!
So come down to the JCR on Saturday at 7pm and remember to bring a little present (5 pounds and below) for the secret santa gift exchange!

This Wednesday from 8-930 at UCH is our final intro lesson with Satin. This is because numbers are high and we are starting to reach the numbers we need for the dance squad. After the intro session the group will be closed off to newcomers. So if you really want to dance MJ but haven't been yet come now!!! Hi all,
There are some changes to this coming week's classes:
1. Tuesday (17 Nov): Latin technique is cancelled as Carlos will be away
2. Thursday (19 Nov): Beginners latin (6pm), Latin Gold (7pm) and Latin Goldstar (8pm) will be held in the Electrical Engineering Room 403
Also, for all those interested (especially the beginners), there will be a practice session held on Friday (20 Nov) from 8pm in the JCR! There will be main team dancers who will be there to help all of you as well as answer any questions about the upcoming competitions - so please take this chance to practice dancing on the dance floor in a competition simulated environment! This saturday Satin will be holding a Micheal Jackson introduction class from 10-11 in the UCH 3rd floor of beit union. The class is to introduce beginners to the dance style of Micheal Jackson and give them an opportunity to pick up the choreos that existing members have been learning. A bit of background information: the class is run by Satin (our Latin dance coach) and Del (a professional hip hop dancer who founded funkology) and is completely FREE. We hope to teach beginners MJ routines so we can perform them throughout the year and also participate in the offbeat section of the dance comp IVDA in Feb. Usual classes are on sat mornings 10-12 with another session on wed evenings. I encourage everyone to try it out and please try to be there so we can start at 10 on the dot for the ballroom beginners. There will be other intro classes on as well but dont miss this one!

In case some of you haven't received it or are having doubts, attached is the confirmed version of the timetable that we'll be following from now on (subject to changes in future).

This week, all lessons (Latin Beginners Team, Latin Gold and Latin Goldstar) on Thursday (12 Oct) held in the Union Dining Hall will be changed to the Union Concert Hall.

Hello everyone!
Tonight is our first dance social of the term - with a halloween theme! Yes we know we're a week late but we decided it's a lot easier to dress up a devil or a ghost compared to dressing up as a firework!
It's in the JCR tonight and it starts at 7pm and finishes at 11pm. Please don't be worried if you've hardly done any dancing before. Everyone will be very welcoming and will only dance to your ability. It's a fantastic way to get to know everyone and also a great opportunity to learn some new, more fun moves off each other. So if you only started dancing a few weeks ago please still do come! It's not as scary as it sounds. We will also be providing free food and drink, including alcohol! But supplies are limited so don't come too late or else it may all have gone.
We shall be playing a mixture of Salsa, Latin and Ballroom tracks, as well as playing chart, club tunes later on in the night so there will be something for everyone.
and most importantly it' all free =D
So I look forward to seeing you all in your scary costumes tonight.
