We have conversations about changing the way we learn.
We're free and open, but we're not purists about it (being purist often ends up excluding things, hence it's not that open).
We self-organise. If no one organises anything, we improvise. If someone organises something, we still improvise, but from a different starting point.
We meet every week, same time, same place (except on the rare occasions when the Royal Festival Hall is closed, when we meet somewhere else nearby). We find this helps people remember where to go and when, if they fancy taking part.
Unfortunately we can't offer guests a fee for visiting. As with everything, we're open to negotiating ways round this if it's a problem (for example, a whip round to cover expenses).
There is free wi-fi in the Royal Festival Hall. There aren't any handy sockets, so charge your batteries.
You don't have to register your attendance for a meeting, but it helps. For example, if we have to change the topic or venue at short notice, we can send an email out to everyone who has registered to attend — you won't get it if you haven't.
Anyone is welcome to become a "co-organiser". This could involve suggesting guests, topics, themes, projects etc. Even better if it involves inviting guests, suggesting topics and themes or initiating projects. Here's what we've got so far — please add ideas directly. You can do all that without registering, but you do need to register to edit stuff on this website, and you need to talk to someone who's already registered as a co-organiser about that.
