The Edinburgh University Cheerleading Club, is a Senior Level 2/3 competitive squad specializing in an intense physical activity that focuses on the development of skill sets for tumbling, dance, jumps and stunting, to compete at national cheerleading competitions each year. Through our hard work, we have made it a priority to uphold Edinburgh University’s longstanding tradition of excellence in sports by achieving consecutive National titles and multiple trophies in cheer and dance!
We have two main squads, the Level 2 Competitive Squad and Performance Squad, and also enter various stunt groups into competitions each year. Our fantastic dance squads compete alongside the cheerleaders in both Pom and Hip Hop divisions.
No experience is necessary, we will teach you the basics in September and make you into champion athletes by February!

EUCC Vixens make history!

By Lizzie Hay on 31st March 2016

Last weekend EUCC Vixens travelled down to Telford to compete in the British Cheerleading Association University Nationals and Nationals and we did not disappoint. We took part in the University Nationals on 24th and 25th March. Over these two days EUCC Vixens made history and was the first team ever to win all three Grand Champion trophies and thus beating every team entered. Our achievements were as follows:

·         Level 2 All-Girl Cheer National and Grand Champions

·         Level 2 Group Stunt National Champions and Second place

·         Level 3 Group Stunt National and Grand Champions

·         Level 4 Group Stunt National Champions

·         Hip Hop National and Grand Champions

·         Pom Third place

We then competed in BCA Nationals on Saturday 26th. We continued our clean sweep of wins with the following:

·         Level 2 All-Girl Cheer National and Grand Champions

·         Level 4 Group Stunt National Champions

·         Hip Hop National and Grand Champions

·         Pom National Champions

This has been the most successful year for EUCC Vixens. We achieved the highest score for dance and cheer out of all entries into both competitions, including several teams attending Cheerleading Worlds in Florida. We could not have had a more successful weekend and truly put Edinburgh University and EUCC Vixens on the map. This is all down to our fantastic captain Bryony Gill and Vice-Captains Amy Grant and Jennifer Park. Their routines out-shone the rest of the competition and we could not be more grateful for all their hard work throughout the year. This has been an unforgettable year and we look forward to seeing where the team goes next year and what we can achieve.

EUCC Vixens become National and Grand Champions once more!

By Lizzie Hay on 28th February 2016

Last weekend our club travelled down to Birmingham to compete in Future Cheer University Nationals and we did not disappoint! Our Level 2 All Girl squad returned with the National and Grand Champion titles for the second year. Our Level 3 Group Stunt also became National and Grand Champion of Group Stunt. Our Level 2 Group stunts came first and second place out of 21 and our Level 4 came third. We were also extremely successful in dance, returning with 2nd place in Pom and 4th place in Hip Hop. We are extremely proud of all our teams and are now back training hard for our next competition in Telford. Bring it on!!

#VIXENSTAKINGOVER- BCA

By Amie Farrington on 6th April 2015

The Vixens travelled to Telford on Easter weekend to compete in the British Cheerleading Association Nationals, comprising of both BCA Universities Nationals and BCA Nationals.
Fifty-two universities from across the UK attended University Nationals on Thursday 2nd and Friday 3rd April, with the Vixens intending to prove ourselves at the major cheerleading event of the season. We gave our all and added to our already impressive trophy collection, gaining:

1st and 4th place from 24 squads in L2 Group Stunt

1st and 8th from 19 squads in L3 Group Stunt

2nd in L4 Group Stunt

1st place L2 All Girl Cheer from 18 squads, and overall GRAND CHAMPIONS from 52 universities across all levels and coed!

2nd place in Hip Hop

7th place in Pom Dance

Saturday and Sunday were BCA National Championships, involving university and allstar competitors. This meant that we were up against teams with gyms, paid coaches and much more practice time! However the Vixens are unstoppable no matter the competition, and walked away with:

1st place L2 Allgirl Cheer and a bid to the European Summit

1st place Hip Hop and a bid to the European Summit

1st place L4 Group Stunt

2nd place Pom Dance

The Cheer squad therefore finish the season with an unbeaten clean sweep and three national championship titles! The Dance squad are Hip Hop National Champions and have placed 7th or above in all competitions this season! This has resulted in TWENTY 1ST-4TH PLACE TROPHIES across two competitions.

The Vixens are also so proud of our Edinburgh neighbours, Heriot-Watt Wolves, who placed seventh at University Nationals in their first ever competition where they brought an impressive routine to the floor :)

On behalf of committee, thanks to all our athletes who dedicated themselves completely to the squad, you deserve everything we worked so hard for and it's been the most rewarding experience to coach and guide you all year. This season wouldn't have been anywhere near as successful without our incredibly talented Captains, Bry, Robyn and Keryn, who choreographed the routines and taught us how to be champion athletes.
And finally a huge thank you from myself. One of the many highlights of my weekend was the responses from other coaches and the judges, who commented that the squad was one of the friendliest, politest and most talented teams they have encounted at competition. Thank you girls for making this year such a success and being such an accepting and friendly team, it has been an absolute pleasure to represent you.

Love,
(President) Amie

Future Cheer University Nationals 2015

By Amie Farrington on 15th February 2015

Birmingham's Genting Arena was host to Future Cheer's University Nationals this weekend, welcoming 62 universities to compete in cheer and dance divisions from across the UK.

Friday's competition was for the individual stunt groups with many of our athletes competing for the very first time against fierce competition, most of whom employ coaches and train in much superior gyms than our own dance hall!

Nevertheless, the cheerleaders worked hard and let our skills speak for themselves, winning:
1st Place Level 2 All Girl
3rd Place Level 2 All Girl
1st Place Level 3 All Girl
4th Place Level 3 All Girl
3rd Place Level 4 All Girl

Our fabulous Captain and Vice Captain who choreographed the stunts

The second day of competition was an early start, leaving our hotel at 7am to perform not long afterwards in both Hip Hop and Pom Dance categories. This was the first UK competition we have entered a Pom team into, however the girls pulled it together and again walked away with:
3rd Place Pom Dance
6th Place Hip Hop

Our final performance was our full squad Level 2 All Girl Cheer, the main event!

The girls did an incredible job and absolutely showed the university at its best, beating off 26 teams including Glasgow, Leeds, Loughborough, Oxford and Cambridge to bring home:
1st Place Level 2 All Girl

The final shock was the announcement of Grand Champions- US!
This meant that we had achieved the highest score in our cheer routine out of all the teams who entered Level 1 and 2, coed and all girl divisions.

We had an incredible weekend and the results reflect exactly how much effort we put into our training so far this year. Now we're looking forward to BCA's National Championships and University Nationals at Easter- Watch this space!
