Durham University Humanist Society seeks to promote understanding and interest in secular philosophy: our aims include providing a forum for non-religious individuals to meet and discuss issues of interest to them and to raise awareness of non-religious views, especially those concerning Durham University and the student body.
Humanism is based on a belief in the worth of Mankind, which humanists believe is capable of solving its own problems. Humanists strive to encourage people to look at the world rationally, rejecting all forms of superstition. For a more comprehensive overview of Humanistic beliefs, see either the British Humanist Association or the International Humanist and Ethical Union.
We welcome anyone one who wants to discuss possible alternatives to organised religion even if you have not fully considered it before!
