Hello and Welcome to CodeChix - Bay Area!!
At this time, formal membership is granted to individuals that are not a recruiter or in a recruiting capacity (founders/entreprenuers looking to hire), and are interested in improving their programming skills. Recruiting is limited to sponsors.
For supportive men and women who want to know about and attend our events, we encourage you to join us at: Meetup, Facebook. You can also follow us on Twitter (@codechix) and Google+. For videos of some of our past events, follow our YouTube channel - youtube.com/codechix
This Groupspaces membership is for female and supportive male developers - if you are a female developer or want to improve your skills to become a developer, please continue and join us on this Groupspaces signup.
We have several types of events (posted on Eventbrite) where we meet face-to-face and get to know each other:
1. Hacking/Informal meetups - We bring our ideas, projects and code together either as teams or individually and help/learn from each other. We get together and chat about our projects, ideas, life, work etc. and develop friendships and learn about each others backgrounds. If interested, always looking for more co-organizers. These events are usually women-only.
2. Technical Talk - We arrange a prominent coder/developer or an executive with a background in development to come and speak to us and about their project/product. Technical Talk speakers are encouraged to show code and demo, if appropriate. We ask permission to videotape the talk and have access to presentation material for our YouTube channel and Slides repository. Technical Talks are open to all men and women to attend.
3. Workshops - We organize and conduct hands-on, instructor-led workshops to refresh/sharpen your developer skill set and learn new technologies and skills. Our workshops are open to all men and women to attend.
We are looking for volunteers to help organize events and help grow our membership. We are also interested in starting chapters both domestic and international. Ping email@example.com if you would like to or are interested in becoming a volunteer or starting a chapter.
As always, holler if you have any suggestions, comments!
This is your group and your participation is key to keeping it progressing and being active, so, please don't hesitate to jump in and help out whenever you can.
Welcome! And here's to a fantastic year ahead,
May the code be with you,
- CodeChix Bay Area Organizers
