The Opportunity

We are looking to identify a candidate with a broad experience of strategic marketing in one or more key verticals (Finance, Transportation, Retail, Energy or Manufacturing) to join a newly formed team that will help to shape the future direction of Cisco in the UK and Ireland.

The overall responsibility of the role will be to support the definition of Cisco UKI’s go to market strategy for the Enterprise segment. With responsibility for go to market planning and development/execution of key sales/marketing programmes and initiatives, the person in the role will manage the partnership with the segment sales operation, the rest of the UKI Marketing team and key EU/US marketing stakeholders, to help drive the continued growth of the business.

  • Gathering and sythesising market and customer intelligence/insight into an actionable form
  • Market sizing/opportunity assessment and identification of sources of competitive advantage for Cisco
  • Supporting business planning (sales/channel/marketing) and measurement
  • Identifying barriers to business scalability and solving or escalating as appropriate
  • Development of solutions and vertical/segment propositions
  • Tracking progress against operational plans, and advising ODs on contingency plans where necessary
  • ‘Trouble-shooter’ for significant business issues and questions
  • Sales/channel enablement for key programs/big bets (via Channel Market Manager where appropriate)
  • Campaign management and measurement
  • Running co-marketing activities with key partners based on market insights

In addition, the core competencies of the successful candidate will be:- - Multi-sector Expert: Broad knowledge of the key sectors (Finance, Manufacturing, Retail, Energy, Transport) within Enterprise, including key trends, customer needs, buying behaviour and effective marketing and sales strategies
- Communicator & Influencer: Ability to build rapport and communicate effectively at all levels, and across disciplines. Ability to construct logical, credible and winning arguments that will persuade senior decision-makers
- Leader of Change: Confidence to instigate required change and manage the change process. Anticipate change, future needs or risk in the business or areas of responsibility and propose appropriate activities to meet these challenges
- True business partner: Ability to partner with the most senior levels of the business and provide commercially aligned, pragmatic solutions to business issues whilst being a trusted advisor who can stretch the way people think about particular issues or opportunities. Confidence to coach senior managers to move the business forward
- Collaborator: Ability to work effectively with Marketing team, and other cross-functional teams in UKI and Europe to deliver desired outcomes for all parties involved
The successful candidate needs to have extensive strategic marketing experience (in-country or above-country), particularly in directly supporting a large sales operation.
