The Cambridge India Economic Forum, a unique student-run initiative at the University of Cambridge, takes immense pleasure in launching the inaugural carbon-free "Eyes on India" Summit", which will be held at the Gillespie Centre on February 25, 2009 at 1530 hours.
The Summit is aimed at educating participants on India's emerging prominence as a catalyst for worldwide economic progress. Together we share a common mission in supporting sustainable and inclusive growth of the Indian economy. The Summit intends to generate dialogues between scholars, policy makers, industry stalwarts and the next generation of leaders to better understand India's position in 2020. Our whole approach is motivated and influenced by the aspiration to educate and spread awareness.
The Summit is honoured and privileged to welcome the following speakers:
- Mr K.V. Kamath, CEO of ICICI Bank (India's second largest bank)
- Mr Hari Sankaran, Managing Director of IL&FS (infrastructure development)
- Mr Sanjeev Bikhchandani, CEO of InfoEdge (Naukri.com)
- Professor Shailendra Vyakarnam, Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning
- Dr Shailaja Fennell, Lecturer at the Department of Land Economy, University of Cambridge
- Mr Anwar Hasan, Managing Director of Tata Limited
- Mrs Sharon Bamford, CEO of UK India Business Council
- Dame Sandra Dawson, Master of Sidney Sussex College, University of Cambridge
- Professor Jaideep Prabhu, Jawaharlal Nehru Professor for Indian Business at Judge Business School
The Summit will also serve as a platform for the launch of the UK India Business Council's Next Generation Network (East of England).
The uniqueness of this initiative is attributed to the Cambridge India Economic Forum's supporting activities, which includes a customised access programme across Indian high schools, connecting academics in Cambridge with those at Indian universities and helping promote primary education across India.
We would like to encourage you to participate in the Summit and can assure you of a meaningful experience with an opportunity to meet, network, interact and discuss pertinent issues with academics from Cambridge, fellow students and our distinguished speakers. This event is sponsored by the Wall Street Journal's Future Leadership Institute and The Cambridge University Investment Club, and supported by the Cambridge-India Partnership and the Cambridge Centre for Indian Business.
