October 2007: Changes to ClickUni, Introducing GroupSpaces

This term we launched a new website at www.GroupSpaces.com where you can find news and events from clubs and societies. This replaces what was at http://ox.clickuni.com for students at Oxford University last year.

The ClickUni start page, designed for students to set as their homepage, has been improved and moved from http://start.clickuni.com to its new home at www.ClickUni.com.

There were several reasons for these changes. The name GroupSpaces clarifies what we're doing in providing groups with their own space on the web, with each group now having a web address of the form GroupSpaces.com/MyGroupName. We're branching out and providing services for groups beyond universities, for which the ClickUni branding was less suitable. We would have been sorry to see the ClickUni name disappear completely and it remains as the brand for start page, where it fits much better as a student-facing product.

So, to clarify:

ClickUni is the Homepage for Students. Created specifically for university students, it's a web page that brings together all the news, events and other information that you want to find out on the web, along with the ability to search all the popular internet destinations such as Google, Facebook, Wikipedia and many more.

GroupSpaces is the place for Clubs and Societies. It provides free web-based tools for clubs, societies, organisations or groups of friends, along with a portal where people can find out what's going on in their area. GroupSpaces aims to make it easier for people to discover, share and promote their passions in life.
