Responsibilities

You will be working within a small team to develop the GroupSpaces.com web application, with varied responsibilities including the following:

  • Develop new features for the GroupSpaces.com web application, turning high level descriptions into things users will love
  • Develop the supporting infrastructure and in-house development processes
  • Diagnose performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations

Requirements

  • Solid object-oriented design, programming, and debugging skills
  • A demonstrated expert-level proficiency in PHP 5
  • A strong understanding of SQL and database design
  • Experienced in the use of appropriate development tools including source code management and the Linux command line
  • Track record of producing high-quality web applications through the full product lifecycle
  • Excellent technical communication, both verbal and written
  • Ridiculous attention to detail
  • Focus on customers’ needs and desire to build technology solutions to address them.
  • Degree in Computer Science or a related subject

Are you inspired by the challenge and responsibility of creating the user interface and experience of an exciting and complex web application that your friends and family can use? At GroupSpaces we're building an all-in-one set of tools to help the leaders of groups such as sports clubs, local charities, hobby and student groups manage themselves online. We're an exciting early-stage company backed by reputable and experienced investors. We are looking for a talented front-end design, implementation and user experience person to join us in perfecting the user experience of GroupSpaces.

You will work closely with the rest of the team to take high-level user requirements and identify, design and build appropriate features, interfaces and user flows. The role could be perfect for someone with a variety of experience in designing and building web application interfaces that now wants to take ownership of their own product so they can look back when it's being used by millions of users worldwide and say "I designed that".

Responsibilities

You will be working within a small team to develop the GroupSpaces.com web application, with varied responsibilities including the following:

  • Develop features for the GroupSpaces.com web application, turning high level descriptions into things users will love
  • Collaborate on wireframes and design drafts and turn these into well-implemented, functional user interfaces
  • Produce mockups and designs in Photoshop and implement these using HTML and CSS
  • Work with the back-end development team to implement interactive and AJAX-based functionality

Requirements

  • A demonstrated expert-level proficiency in user interface and user experience (UI/UX) design with a speciality in designing interfaces for web apps
  • Proficient graphic design skills using Photoshop etc
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of HTML, CSS and cross-browser support
  • Proficiency in object-oriented Javascript, including one or more frameworks (jQuery, Prototype, etc)
  • Skilled in debugging and problem solving using relevant tools (Firebug, etc)
  • Track record/portfolio of high-quality web application interfaces and design implementations
  • Experienced in the use of appropriate development tools including source code management
  • A good understanding of usability and accessibility considerations
  • Excellent technical communication, both verbal and written
  • Ridiculous attention to detail
  • Focus on customers’ needs and desire to build technology solutions to address them.
