U8 Bristol

U8 is a global network of students who want to engage with development issues without prejudice. We perform a number of roles, but for now you can view Bristol U8 as a group that meets in the pub to chat about international development. We don’t have a set position on the issue, and any opinion is more than welcome.

U8: Tell the government what you think about international development!

Posted by Sophie Hewitt, Saturday 14th March 2009 @ 5:50pm

Tuesday, 17th March, 7:30pm
Location: Highbury Vaults

On Tuesday, rather than the usual Wednesday, U8 will be meeting at 7:30pm in the Highbury Vaults to take part in an exciting project......

U8 has been invited to contribute to the White Paper consultation process of the
UK Department for International Development (DfID).

The title of the White Paper is:

Eliminating World Poverty: Assuring our Common Future

It will be on how the UK can help eliminate poverty in the currently adverse financial, political and environmental climate.

In order for the U8 to make a meaningful and representative contribution to the
consultation process, we want you to contribute. This is a great chance to come along, even if you've never been to U8 before. We will be taking a few of the questions and discussing them before passing our discussion notes on to the Global U8 team to forward on to Dfid.

To have a look at the questions see - http://consultation.dfid.gov.uk/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/eliminating-world-poverty.pdf

Free and open to all.
