SCA Summer Volunteering Special!

E-mail newsletter sent by Rachel Miller, Monday 21st June 2010 @ 1:19pm

Hi,

As promised, here's a bumper email with a variety of opportunities over the summer. Some are directly related to SCA and other student volunteering activities such as Foodcycle who need food lovers and cyclists (as the name suggests!), while others are outside opportunities that are perfect to gain experience, travel, meet others and try something new over the summer.

The opportunities are endless and this is just a selection of the best, but use your imagination, make the most of the summer by helping out somewhere in Bristol, back home or abroad and you'll not only have a great time, but you'll also gain experience you couldn't get anywhere else, and have the satisfaction that you have made a difference!

If you are graduating this summer, why not take this opportunity to try something new, gain experience and build on your skills so your CV is full of fresh and up-to-date experience doing something a little bit different.

Summer Love!

The Big Give Sorting Week - volunteers needed all week!

E-mail newsletter sent by Rachel Miller, Friday 18th June 2010 @ 5:28pm

Hi!

Still in Bristol - don't know what to do next week?

What?    The Big Give Big Sort!
When?   21-24 June (Monday - Thursday)
Where?  Anson Rooms, Students' Union
How?     Join the facebook group, contact Bettina and turn up any time next week (Monday, 9am, if poss!)
Why?     Because this is our chance to collect all the unwanted belongings of students moving out of Halls, give it all to charity and it's a MASSIVE job! We need as many volunteers as possible and you'll have the chance to be involved in one of the biggest charity donations of goods all year! :) There will also be free pizza (Dominoes) and sandwiches (Pret a Manger) on certain days too!

The Big GIVE sorting week has finally arrived! We need as many people to help as possible, especially on Monday June 21st!

If you are interested in helping out meet us at 9 am at the Anson Room, 1st floor Students' Union, Monday to Thursday (June 21st-24th). You are welcome to join us at any point throughout the day.  Help out for an hour or two, all day or all week if you can!

We are also looking for drivers - it would be great if you have a car and could bring it to do a few pick-ups!

There will be free refreshments but do bring something to drink and a snack just in case.

Get in touch if you have queries or comments: bettina.urban@hotmail.com, mobile: 07593 237 759 and join the Big Give Sorting Week Facebook Group at www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=119767414733434

Thanks and hope to see you all next week if you can make it!

SCA Weekly Email - End of Term 2009/10!

E-mail newsletter sent by Rachel Miller, Monday 14th June 2010 @ 5:25pm

Happy End of Exams, Congratulations, Well Done and Thank You!

I just wanted to say a Humungous thank you to everyone of you that has been involved in any SCA project or any other volunteering activities we have advertised this year.

Every single one of you has made a positive difference, and collectively the impact on Bristol is immeasurable - You are all fantastic!!

But... I'm not letting you away that easily! We still need all hands on deck for the Big Give next week to help sort and clear everything that students have been dropping off at Halls of Residence!

Also, the Summer Pitstop Trip is still looking for volunteers.

If you are still looking for ideas of things to get involved with over the summer, next week will be the final email with a list of (mostly) non-SCA volunteering opportunities that are available.  Until then, relax, enjoy your freedom and come and help out with the Big Give!!
