The Baton Rouge Genealogical & Historical Society (BRGHS) was formed in 1953 and incorporated in 1981 to bring together those interested in researching, preserving, and presenting the historical heritage of the state’s capital city and their own genealogical roots.
The Society provides programs, publications, and networking opportunities to educate and inform the community of the city’s history and to benefit those devoted to tracing and recording their ancestry.
The Society meets at 10 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month (except December) at the East Baton Rouge Parish Library, 9200 Bluebonnet Boulevard, Baton Rouge. The December meeting, which is the Christmas social, is held on the second Saturday of the month.
