5.00pm – 7.15pm Seminars

Professor Peter Cook; Balliol 1963. ‘A model for all genomes: the role of transcription’
Professor Cook is the E.P. Abraham Professor of Cell Biology in the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology. Professor Cook is a world leader in cell biology and particular the cell nucleus.

Professor Oliver James; Balliol 1961. 'Will moderate drinking prolong your life? What the WHO don't want you to know'.
Professor James is the Provost of Medical Sciences at Newcastle Medical School and previous Senior Vice-President Royal College of Physicians 1997-99. Professor James has research interest in various aspects of liver disease including the contribution of alcoholism to cirrhosis of the liver. Furthermore Professor James is a consultant physician at Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Trust and has expertise in geriatric medicine.

7.15pm – 8.00pm Drinks in the Old Common Room

8.00pm – 9.30pm Dinner in Hall

The dress code is ‘lounge suit’.
