Bianca Jade Rathbone - Photographer and Designer
Each of her works are individually photographed and compiled. Bianca tries to avoid digital manipulation at all costs and will spend hours on a work to get it right as she loves manual photography and experimenting with different layouts. She collects vintage cameras and at present owns two unique cameras. She overlays image over image to project a different results until she is satisfied with the work.
Her photography started when she was eight years old with a photo of horses. At nine years she came third in the South African Sony Competition. After school she did three years manual photography and then went on to digital and has worked with film.
Her works tell a story such as that attached to the work known as "Desolation" in which the story of Jhb is told. Desolation comes across as the sky and it transforms from coldness to possibility.
Artorcraft has come across Bianca's work twice this year. Firstly at the "Rotary art exhibition at Hyde Park" and then at the Äntique änd Art Fair"run at Gallagher at the same time as Decorex.
Bianca is an entrepeneur and her latest creation is the decor, menu and design for a resturant in Boskruin JHB called 1969 (the resturant is dedicated to the year the owners were born and lifestyle, news and views of that year).
When you buy a Rathbone original you are buying a once off work which she will not reproduce for anyone else.
