Now, how does the air conditioning duct performs such wonderful function of keeping an establishment well-ventilated? Simply put, it gathers fresh air from the outside of the establishment first, deposits the air into a central air unit and then cools it. The air conditioning duct system then distributes the cooled air into the different parts of the establishment where it is installed.

To date, the most preferred ducts are those made from galvanized steel, as these can resist corrosion. In addition, it is inevitable for the ducts to be dampened with water that is why many always prefer this property. However, ducts made from the other types are also becoming increasingly popular since some argue that steel ducts are more prone to air leaking, unlike plastic or fabric ducts.
On another note, in such cases where the air ducts leak, service providers can assemble diagnostic equipment to test and determine air leakage. Usually, two types of equipment are used. The first one takes into account and provides measure of the amount of air wasted due to leakage. The other equipment is used to support the first by equalizing the air pressure.
The shape of the air conditioning duct might also be the deciding factor for some clients when choosing one. Most clients prefer square or rectangular ducts as many believe that these can fit smoothly in ceilings compared to round and spiral ducts. On the contrary, round ducts should be more preferred in terms of efficiency as this design allows the passage of a larger amount of air.
If there is a way to make round ducts fit perfectly into the establishment's ceiling, then that would be better. The last type, spiral, is only preferred if the ducts will be displayed, that is, will not be enclosed inside the ceiling. Although this is the least efficient, this will definitely look more presentable; hence, giving additional points for the establishment's aesthetics especially when arranged creatively.
