The man behind the Yeezys

To truly understand why Yeezys are as popular as they are today, it helps to get to know the man behind a brand. How is it that a man can be so popular that when he releases a shoe it not only sells out instantly, but also spawns waves and waves of fake yeezys flooding the market to fill the void for fans that missed out. Let’s take it back to the beginning. Kanye West was born on June 8th in 1977. 13 years late Kanye’s mom helped young Kanye cut his first record. The song he created was allegedly called “Green Eggs and Ham”, if he still has it to this day you just know that man is crazy enough to sample it and turn it into a hit song. In 1996 Yeezy performed a freestyle in a Fat Beats store, this has now become an iconic moment in his career.
It was only two years later that Kanye got his first taste of success. He won $8,000 by beating a local Chicago rapper in a rap off. In 2000 Kanye started producing for Roc-A-Fella Records and this was debatably one of the biggest moments in his career. In 2004 Kanye release The College Dropout. This album was huge, in fact it’s so huge I probably don’t have to even tell you about it but I’m going to anyway. It sold 441,000 copies in it’s first week. In 2005 Kanye kicked up a bit of trouble in the media by stating on live TV that “Bush doesn’t care about black people”. It can be argued that one of the factors that keep Kanye in the media cycle constantly is his controversial opinion and lack of fear when it comes to speaking his truth. It would be unfair to say that that’s the only reason he has blown up so much, his incredible taste and ability to perform has made him an official G.O.A.T. So whether you’re kicking it with some fake yeezys or real yeezys, just remember the man that made it all happen. Kanye West.
