The Wheel of the Year Workshops

The Wheel of the Year is an annual cycle of seasonal festivals, observed by many modern Pagans, consisting of the year's chief solar events (Solstices and Equinoxes) and the midpoints between them. Our workshops thoroughly explore and celebrate each of the Sabbats, looking at their history, customs and traditions, magickal associations and ritual practices, as well as traditional crafts and other activities.

Starting in January, each workshop focuses on the up coming Sabbat:
Imbolc - also known as Candlemas, which is celebrated on February 1-2. Imbolc, marks the beginning of Spring.
Ostara - Spring Equinox circa March 21, as Spring reaches its midpoint, night and day stand in perfect balance, with light on the increase.
Beltane - also known as May Day. A day to celebrate fertility, fire, and abundance.
Litha - or Midsummer, is a celebration of the Summer Solstice. Midsummer represents the Sun King in all his glory. It is a celebration of passion and of ensuring the success of the crops.
Lammas - or Lughnasadh circa 1st August, marks the annual wheat harvest, and is the first harvest festival of the year.
Mabon - the Autumn Equinox, celebrating the 2nd Harvest, Falls Between September 21 - 23.
Samhain - Halloween, 31st October, marking the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter or the "darker half" of the year.
Yule - the Winter Solstice, circa December 21, nighttime has reached its maximum length, and there is a promise of brighter days to come as candles are lit and feasts are enjoyed.

Each workshop will include an in-depth presentation supported with PowerPoint slides, handouts, displays and recommended reading materials to help further your studies. After a short break (where hot beverages and light snacks are provided), we go on to make a traditional item associated with the Sabbat. This is followed by a guided meditation to help deepen our connection with the essence of the season and meet a form of  God or Goddess that presides at that time. We culminate with a celebratory group ritual as a means to attune our minds, bodies and spirits with the flow of natures' energy and the essence of the God/Goddess of the time.

Suitable for beginners , as well as those ready to move beyond book-based learning. Our workshops offer a safe opportunity to expand your knowledge and practices,  plus experience the joys of working as part of a small group in a ritual setting.

The workshop is run by Wort Moon, an experienced and well-respected teacher of the Craft. Wort started her own journey by joining a Wiccan coven back in the early 1990's. She moved on to spend time studying and working as a Hedgewitch for a number of years, before setting up and running a lively Pagan Moot based in Reading. For the last 10 years, Wort has been the High Priestess of an Eclectic coven, and mentor to many aspiring Witches. At the start of  2017, along with Copper, her magickal working partner, she began running workshops in order to help others learn, explore and practice the Craft in their own way.
