• All 8 Wheel of the Year Workshops

Saturday, 25th January 2020 at TBD
    Location: Lower Earley, Reading, Berks

    The Wheel of the Year

    Workshops
The Wheel of the Year is an annual cycle of seasonal festivals, observed by many modern Pagans, consisting of the year's chief solar events (solstices and equinoxes) and the midpoints between them. Come and join us at our series of 8 individual workshops for an educational and inspiring experience, as we explore the history, symbolism and essence of each Sabbat in turn, and learn how to connect with the energies through ritual.

Workshops cost £20 individually, however we are offering the full series of 8 workshops for the discounted price of £120 (*plus booking fee).
This offer is only available until 24th January 2020

IMBOLC - Saturday 25th January at Radstock Community Centre.
Imbolc celebrates the reawakening of the Earth, as the days begin to lengthen and grow warmer.  Imbolc is particularly sacred to the Goddess Brigid who is connected with healing, inspiration and smithcraft. Now is the time for cleansing and purification, for discarding the outworn and making way for the new.

OSTARA - Saturday 14th March at Radstock Community Centre.
Ostara is just one of the many names applied to the celebration of the spring equinox. As Spring reaches its midpoint, night and day stand in perfect balance, with light on the increase. The natural world is coming alive, the Sun is gaining in strength and the days are becoming longer and warmer. We celebrate fertility, birth and new beginnings as we plant the seeds for new projects we wish to accomplish during the year.

BELTANE - Saturday 25th April at Maiden Place Community Centre.
Beltane, or May Day, is a celebration of the potency of the life force of the earth at its strongest and the beginning of summer. All of nature is bursting with fertility as the Goddess and God join together as one. Beltane is the celebration of sexuality and fertility that springs forth from this sacred union.

LITHA - Saturday 13th June at Maiden Place Community Centre.
The Summer Solstice marks the longest day and shortest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. The Sun is at its peek of power, but this is a transitional moment - a new cycle is about to begin! Though, from this point the light begins to wane, it is not destroyed but only transmuted; we see it again in the ripened grains, fruits and other crops gathered at harvest.

LAMMAS - Saturday 25th July at Maiden Place Community Centre.
Lammas or Lughnasadh, is the great Fire festival of summers height and the first of the three harvest festivals. It marks the start of the gathering in of the grain harvest and also the seeds that will be planted ready to sprout again next spring.
It is a time of gratitude and for giving thanks, for coming together and celebrating the earths bounty.

MABON - Saturday 12th September at Maiden Place Community Centre.
Mabon marks the Autumn Equinox, a time when day and nigh are in balance once more, however from this point forward the dark is gaining. We Celebrate the second harvest, as the leaves explode into a riot of colours and the berries and fruits are ripe for the picking. The balance of the year has changed, the wheel has turned and we must prepare for winter. We reflect on all that has happened over the past year and decide which seeds we wish to store for the following spring.

SAMHAIN - Saturday 24th October at Maiden Place Community Centre.
Samhain marks the third and final harvest festival of nuts and berries. All the harvest is in, all is complete, it is the end of the cycle of birth and growth, it is the point of death. The veil between the worlds is at its thinnest, the spirits of the departed return to earth be among their loved ones. It is a truly magical time. Death is always followed by rebirth and while this is the end of the old year, it is the beginning of the new year.

YULE - Saturday 19th December at Maiden Place Community Centre.
The Winter Solstice, marks the time of the shortest day and longest night, from henceforth the Sun gains in strength and the days grow longer and increase in warmth. The winter solstice has been observed as a significant time for thousands of years and by many cultures. We celebrate the themes of rebirth, renewal and the return of the light as found in most of the oldest traditions.

    WORKSHOP ITINARY
We begin with an in-depth talk about the history, symbolism, customs and meaning of the Sabbat, accompanied by slides and handouts. After a quick break  (refreshments of tea, coffee and biscuits are provided free of charge), we learn how to create a traditional item associated with the season with the materials provided. We further deepen our connection through a guided meditation, before coming together in the sacred space to take part in a ritual celebration of the sabbat.
