Lesser's at Worc's Cathedral - 2016 Brainstorming meeting!

Monday, 11th January 2016 at 6:30pm

Location: Robin Hood ph, Droitwich, WR9 0BS.

This event is in the past.

Hello everyone, and Happy New Year!

Firstly can I offer a massive and overdue 'thank you' to everyone involved with the Worcester Cathedral bat roost monitoring work so far ~ 2015 saw several strands of work running alongside each other. These have contributed significantly to our understanding about our city center colony.

2016 will hopefully be another great year for the bat groups involvement, with opportunities to learn much more through our river crossing & lighting studies, assessing the commuting routes and foraging grounds for the colony, as well as the regular bat group hibernation counts... There's plenty more batty work which we can explore if there's sufficient interest amongst the group...

An initial brainstorming meeting will be held next Monday 11th January starting 6.30pm at the Robin Hood ph in Droitwich: anyone with an interest in the project is very welcome to come along.

What's the point of the meeting?

What would be helpful at this stage, is for the group to co-ordinate and schedule our 2016 bat survey dates so as to avoid duplicating demand on our volunteers throughout the busy season. We'd particular encourage anyone with an interest in taking on the co-ordination of one of these survey components.

Can you help?

No experience is neccessary, and we have experienced bat group gurus who've been involved in the monitoring and survey work over the years: we're keen to offer advice and support.

  • Interested in helping co-ordinate a survey?
  • Interested in volunteering on lesser horseshoe surveys, but not sure which type of survey to do?
  • Got an idea for a lesser horseshoe project?
  • Just want to learn more about the various cathedral batty projects we've done so far?

Please come along on the 11th to find out more.

All the best,
Cody.
