While women continue to play an active role in regional political uprisings, journalist Mona Eltahawy suggests that real change will not succeed unless accompanied by revolutions of social, sexual, and cultural thought. Does the region need a sexual revolution? Join this discussion with Mona Eltahawy on the changing role of women in the Middle East. 


Mona Eltahawy's Bio

Mona Eltahawy is an international journalist who has contributed to various media outlets including The New York Times, Al-Jazeera, and The Guardian on women’s issues in the Muslim world. She is the former managing editor of Women’s eNews, an Arabic news site covering women’s issues, and a contributor to London-based publication Asharq Al-Awsat. In 2011, Eltahawy was arrested while reporting in Cairo on the Egyptian revolution. Newsweek named her one of its “150 Fearless Women in 2012” and Columbia Journalism Review named her one of 20 women in media to watch. She holds a BA and MA from American University in Cairo.
