WATTS VILLAGE THEATER COMPANY nurtures and produces original works of theater and educational programming that inspire action and dialogue about contemporary social issues to honor the rich history, cultural diversity and under-served populations of South Los Angeles.
HOLLYWOOD IN THE HOOD a new site-specific parody by WVTC artistic director Lynn Manning
“It’s THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT meets MENACE TO SOCIETY!”
Join us for this one of a kind production taking place throughout Watts. Lynn Manning’s new play invites you along a walking tour of Watts as filmmaker Terrence Tarantino seeks to create the most violent, exploitative, urban gangster movie of all time. For authenticity, the filmmaker wants to shoot it on location in Watts, and cast as many of the secondary characters from real gang members. What he doesn’t expect is that his authentic casting will unknowingly bring together the two most dangerous rival gangs imaginable: The Tie-Dye Demons and the Paisley Pariahs.
This site-specific parody spoofs the Hollywood caricatures of South Los Angeles. See Watts as you’ve never seen it before in this world premiere comedy event!
