SHARE Workshop March 5, 2016 11- 4:30
Please join us for a day of weaving and spinning, including a class hosted by Yohannah Klingensmith.
This year we have held a SHARE workshop and we'll be doing things a little bit differently. The first part of the day will be a workshop with Yohannah Klingensmith. In keeping with the original theme of the SHARE workshop, after the class session guild members will “SHARE” their weaving and spinning talents through demonstration and teaching. Both portions of the day are open to the public.
Yohannah’s session is an overview of warping a loom in the back to front in the Swedish way. All the basic steps will be covered from measuring the warp to dressing the loom. During the course of the class she will demo how this is done and share her wisdom of warping and dressing a loom. She taught this class at CHT and by all reports, it was enjoyable and informative.
Members of the public as well as WSSA members are welcome to attend her class, which will be from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a half hour break in between for lunch or a snack (snacks provided!).
Registration is only necessary for the class portion. Stay for hands-on demonstrations on looms and spinning wheels after the class until 4:30 p.m.
Yohannah Klingensmith has been weaving since she was ten years-old. Klingensmith works and teaches weaving at Homestead Fiber Arts, part of the Homestead Craft Village, in Elm Mott, Texas, which features award winning woodworking, blacksmithing, pottery, leather work, and quilting in addition to fiber crafts.
11:00 to 2:30 Overview of Warping – Yohannah Klingensmith (includes a thirty minute break, snacks provided)
2:30 to 4:30 Weaving and Spinning Demonstrations – WSSA members
Please register for the workshop portion. There is no charge for the workshop, this is a gift from the guild. Donations are of course welcome!
Please bring your looms and spinning equipment for the demo portion of the day.
