Did you know that...
According to calraisins.org, about 200,000 California acres are used for growing raisins. 3,000 California Raisin growers produce 100% of the U.S. raisin crop - approximately 350,000 tons annually - all within a 60 mile radius of Fresno, California – yes, our very own central San Joaquin Valley. Two-thirds of the U.S. raisin production is consumed in the U.S. and Canada, while one-third is exported to nearly 50 countries with Japan and the United Kingdom being the top two export markets.
You can learn lots more about the raisin industry at calraisins.org, but today, it's enough to also know that.... April 30 is also National Oatmeal Cookie Day. To celebreate the occasion, here's an oatmeal raisin cookie that you might like: http://www.quakeroats.com/cooking-and-recipe/vanishing-oatmeal-raisin-cookies.aspx
