The Society of Health and Medical Physics (SHMPS) at the University of Florida is a group for students who are interested in learning about and educating others about radiation protection and medical uses of radiation. Community service is a large part of SHMPS. Activities include Road to Recovery, where students can give rides to patients undergoing cancer treatment; and dinner at the Hope Lodge, where the group members cook food for cancer patients and interact with them through games or conversation. While most members take classes through the Nuclear and Radiological Engineering Department, any student from UF may join.
