UCLU Karting Club

About this group

We are UCLU's first ever motorsports club, bringing affordable racing to everyone at all levels, from a fun race against your friends in social events, to competitive racing in the British Universities Karting Championship (BUKC).

At the club we provide our members the opportunity to have fun racing for heavily-discounted prices at tracks in and around London throughout the year. Karting is great fun; a high adrenaline high speed rush bringing a welcome break to the rigors of studying at a world class university. Everyone is welcome, regardless of previous karting experience, we provide relaxed races for those newer to karting whilst some members of the club will get to compete in the fastest karts in Europe, representing UCL in the British Universities Karting Championship (BUKC). So whether you want to cruise nice and easy around a track and have a bundle of laughs along the way, or race at break-neck speed to get the adrenaline pumping, whether you’ve never sat in a kart before but fancy giving it a go or think you are the next Lewis Hamilton, we are the right club for you.

UCLU KARTING: Final race of year!

E-mail sent by Jonathan Griffiths, Thursday, 5th June 2014 @ 9:55am

I hope your exams all went well!

Tickets are now on sale for our final term event of the year: indoor karting at Letchworth!

Tickets can be found here. We will be meeting at 11.00 at King's Cross station on Thursday 12th June.

For the £50 price, you get ten 5 minute heats (50 minutes!) in the karts. Groups will be scrambled between heats, so that everybody will race against everybody. The track is narrow, quick and a lot of fun: lunges, banditry and great racing!

Each heat will be scored on quickest lap times set - the top 8 scoring drivers (or some other means of selection that we can decide at the time) will drive an additional 12 lap final race to decide a winner.

We need to confirm driver numbers in advance of the event, so please buy your tickets ASAP!

Summary: Tickets, 11AM at Kings Cross on 12th of June!

We hope to see you there!

UCLU Karting AGM

E-mail sent by Jonathan Griffiths, Thursday, 20th March 2014 @ 11:02am

Hello!

Remember that the AGM is tomorrow, Friday 21st March!

It will be held at 13:00 at Bentham House, in room B10 (Seminar Room 1).

As you enter the building, it's down the stairs and clearly signposted. It was where we did the Whilton Mill track guide.

We'll be electing the committee for next year by vote, so if you're interested in shaping the future of your club, make sure you come along!

Some snacks will be provided, too.

See you there!

Formula 1 with UCLU Karting

E-mail sent by Jonathan Griffiths, Wednesday, 12th March 2014 @ 10:08pm

Hello!

The Formula 1 season is about to get underway again, starting in Australia.
With the biggest regulation changes in a long time and poor reliability, we're set for a classic race (none of this Vettel rubbish!)

The club will be returning to Jetlag Bar for their early-morning coverage.

The atmosphere is brilliant when the racing gets exciting; and with sofas, themed, food and cooked breakfasts, what's not to like? If you're into Formula 1 or are even mildly interested, this isn't an opportunity to miss.

The race starts at 6:00 AM (ouch), and we'll be there from 5. Make sure to arrive early, though, or you might not get a seat.
The early start is worth it, I promise!

The bar is 5 minutes from UCL - directions can be found here

I look forward to seeing you there!
