Tower Hamlets foodbank Appeals For Help As Need For Emergency Food Aid Increases
With increasing numbers of local people turning to Tower Hamlets foodbank for emergency food aid, you can help us meet the growing need by donating food at Tesco in Bromley-by-Bow on 2nd July.
Since opening last December, we have collected just over 7.5 tonnes of food from which we have fed over 800 local people struggling to put food on the table. These are not homeless people; they are low-income working families who hit crisis, people who have been made redundant or people experiencing benefits delays. We are also finding that many of our clients are being hit by rising food prices and have to make decisions between eating and paying the rent. Some clients are skipping meals to feed their children or even considering stealing to stop their children going hungry.
So Can You Help?
On Saturday 2nd July from 9am - 5pm, a team of volunteers from J.P. Morgan will be holding a food collection for us, asking shoppers to donate non-perishable food items ranging from pasta to long-life juice, tinned meat, cereal and soup. The food will be packed into nutritionally balanced emergency food boxes that will last people in crisis a minimum of three days.
So please come down and help support your local foodbank – tell your family and friends – we need all the support we can get!!!!
Looking forward to seeing you then!
