Without any doubt, my favourite run on a summers evening, for many years, has been the route now taken by the “offTRAC10”
This run utilises tracks, public footpaths and field boundaries from Tickhill to Rossington and back via Wellingly and Stancil.
After six miles of running off road, the route I have used takes an almost traffic free lane back to Tickhill, for the final two miles. Just over eight miles in total, so easily completed in the hour without having to run like the wind.
It seemed logical to utilise this route as the basis for the offTRAC10. The race is mainly off road due to the assistance given by one of our local farmers who has granted access to a track on his field margins which avoids using the minor lane back to Tickhill and has facilitated the increase of the miles.
This ten mile, off road race is unique to our club. It is almost flat and therefore fast. It seemed logical to incentivise the effort to achieve a fast time so a £60 cash prize is awarded to the first runner to complete the 10 mile race in less than 60 minutes.
I hope that this run will give you the pleasure and sense of achievement that I have enjoyed for many years.
