Week 8 - Film Week!

E-mail sent by Member 1ed41b6, Sunday, 27th November 2016 @ 3:09pm

Hailing frequencies open!

It's our last week of TrekSoc this term, and so it is our traditional FILM NIGHT! We will be watching one of the Star Trek films at our usual venue of SOMERVILLE COLLEGE, meeting at 7.45pm outside the porters' lodge, as usual. This week, we also have our crewdate with Dr Who Society, on Wednesday evening, and maybe a trip to Atomic Pizza (depending on whether enough people are free). Keep checking our Facebook gorup for updates on those!

Thanks for making Trek Soc so much fun this term - there's a whole new series of Trek coming in 2017, so stick around!

LLAP,
Captain Atkinson

Fifth Week Fun

E-mail sent by Member 1ed41b6, Monday, 7th November 2016 @ 10:26am

Hey there crew!

Half way through term already, and so to ward off Fifth Week Blues, this week's theme is the silliest epsiodes of Star Trek. We'll be meeting at 7.45pm outside Somerville tonight (Monday). If you haven't already been this term, you're still very welcome to drop by and enjoy some snacks while we watch some of Star Trek's finest episodes.

GEEK QUIZ - as usual, Star Trek Society will be fielding a team (or two!) on Thursday evening, going up against other geeky societies in Oxford. It is taking place at 8pm, St Peter's College, in the Dorfman Room. Rules for writing your own round are attached below.

Week 4 - Halloween!

E-mail sent by Member 1ed41b6, Sunday, 30th October 2016 @ 8:58am

Hailing all crew members (from beyond the grave...)

This week's theme is "Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)" - on Halloween, we will be watching a selection of Star Trek's scariest monsters and most nefarious villains. Come dressed up if you want, it doesn't have to be Trek-themed! We will again be meeting outside Somerville College plodge at 7.45pm on Monday - see you there!

Week 3

E-mail sent by Member 1ed41b6, Saturday, 22nd October 2016 @ 2:45pm

Hey there crew!

This week's theme is "All About Enterprise", so vote for your favourite ENT or TAS - technically, TAS is set on the enterprise, so it still counts ;). We will be meeting at Somerville college plodge at 7.45pm on Monday.

Remember to put Thursday 5th week in your diaries - Doctor Who Soc will once again be hosting the geek quiz, a chance to do battle with other Oxford geek societies for the honour of being the biggest nerds in Oxford! Later this term, we are scheduling a hall swap in 6th Week, crew date in 7th and Atomic Pizza dinner in 8th - exact dates and times to be scheduled later, so watch out on the Facebook page for our event polls!

LLAP,
Captain Atkinson

Hello Crew!
It's the last week of term, and that means MOVIE NIGHT! Remember to vote in the Facebook poll for your choice, and I'll see you at 7.45pm outside St John's (NOT Pembroke). No trivia this week, as I *should* be busy revising rather than trawling the internet for Trek memes...

It's been a wonderful year of TrekSoc and I hope to see you all at John's for one final voyage.

Week 4 Trinity

E-mail sent by Member 1ed41b6, Monday, 16th May 2016 @ 9:38am

Hello All,
Apologies for the lateness of this email, I've yet to get in the habit of being a Captain! This week's theme is "The Interstellar Catwalk", featuring the wackiest of Trek costumes (check the link in trivia to see a selection...). We will be meeting as usual at 7.45pm outside St John's

Hope to see you there,
Captain Atkinson

Week 3 Trinity

E-mail sent by Member 1ed41b6, Saturday, 7th May 2016 @ 1:23pm

Hello All!
It's my first week as Star Trek Captain and so this week's theme is "Maiden Voyages" - my suggestion being Where No Man Has Gone Before, the original series pilot. Meetings will continue to be held at St. John's for this term, so we will be meeting at

7.45pm outside St. John's

Apologies for the lack of trivia this week, I need to up my game when it comes to dank memes...

LLAP,
Captain Atkinson

Week 2: Goodbye(ish)

E-mail sent by Callum Spiller, Sunday, 1st May 2016 @ 1:36pm

And so I am writing my final email as Captain (violins in distance).

I just wanted to say thank you all very much for the past year, it has been a pleasure helping to run this society and seeing it grow into what it has become today (I am, of course, referring to the drastic increase in membership following freshers' week last October). TrekSoc is such a staple in my life and I just wanted to thank you all for making my Monday nights so enjoyable. I shall, of course, be returning to the society each week!

Right enough of that, now tomorrow, elections are the first order of business, anybody interested in any of the comittee positions up for grabs, look at the below section of the email which has all the info you need.

Additionally, Nathan will not be around tomorrow so If anybody has a laptop with an HDMI port could you please bring it?! (It may win you some extra points if you are going for Technical Officer!)

Meeting time this week is pushed back a little bit to account for a pesky rehearsal that has cropped up in my life (BUY CABARET TICKETS) so we will be meeting at:

8:15 for an 8:30 start at St. Johns college!

Otherwise, please read the rest of the email for the theme and other stuff (there may or may not be a plug) and I'll see you all tomorrow!

LLAP

Captain Spiller, signing off.

WEEK 1: TRINITY IS HERE.... 4/25

E-mail sent by Callum Spiller, Sunday, 24th April 2016 @ 11:25pm

Hi everyone!

It's Callum back with another email, although his week's is a rare pre-12am message! It is my penultimate email as Captain (cue emotional bells and violins) and so I must remind all that the elections for Captain, First Officer and Technical Officer are to be held next week and that all who are considering applying for the role must do so as more information will be given tomorrow and over the course of next week!

This week's meeting will be held slightly later at 8:30 tomorrow at St. John's College, meeting at 8:15 outside of the lodge

Otherwise I hope you have all had a great break, please read the rest of the email for this week's theme!

lots of love,

Captain Spiller

Week 8: FILM NIGHT

E-mail sent by Callum Spiller, Monday, 7th March 2016 @ 1:05am

Hey Everyone!

It's week 8 finally and it's time to kick back with one of the films!

Contrary to what I said last week, access to Pembroke auditorium has now been DENIED :'( so this week's meeting will be at St. Johns at the usual time! (7:45 meeting outside the lodge)

Vote on the Facebook poll to decide which film we watch!

Also, hall swap is on Tuesday, if you still haven't signed up please message our resident Keblite, Rose!

This is my last email of the term so I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for making it such a good one! Monday nights have been keeping me sane over the past few weeks which I am very appreciative of!

See you all tomorrow!

Hall Swap and Atomic Pizza

E-mail sent by Linda Jane Canton, Tuesday, 23rd February 2016 @ 5:55pm

Hello everyone!

As some of you may have noticed, there are two new polls on the facebook page. Please respond to them soon!

For Hall Swap, we're looking at going to Keble - but, due to availability, the only day we would be able to do it is Tuesday of 8th week (8th March). Please respond if you can or cannot make it!

Since Hall Swap is now in 8th week, we'll be doing Atomic Pizza in 7th week. Please respond to that poll saying which days you're available so I know when and how many people to book a table for. Feel free to bring people from outside of Trek Soc, but (obviously) please tell me so I book enough seats!

Linda J. Canton
