Damn it Jim, I'm a doctor not a (insert word here)

E-mail sent by Member 205b96d, Sunday, 27th May 2018 @ 2:49pm

Hi everyone,

This week we are celebrating the best Starfleet medical has to offer, it's time to showcase your favourite moment with your favourite Starfleet doctor. If you were being rushed to sick bay with plasma burns, who would you want holding the tricorder?

As always we'll be meeting at 19:45 in Logic Lane (High Street end) on Monday.

Make it so,
Captain Crothers

Bromance on the Bridge

E-mail sent by Member 205b96d, Friday, 18th May 2018 @ 1:30pm

Hi everyone,

As 5th week rears its ugly head let's forget about the mounting workload and revision by celebrating the best bromances Starfleet has to offer. It's time to showcase your favourite bromance (such as Kirk and Spock, O'Brien and Bashir or Picard and Q) at its best.

We'll be meeting at the High Street end of Logic Lane on Monday at 19:45.

Make it so,
Captain Crothers

Week 4 - New Leadership

E-mail sent by Member 205b96d, Saturday, 12th May 2018 @ 5:07pm

Hi everyone,

As we voyage into the unknown with an all new crew what better theme to start with than 'New Leadership.' This can be anything from a character first taking on the mantle of leadership to an episode where we see someone new in the Captain's chair.

We'll be meeting in Univ so let's assemble in Logic Lane (High Street end) at 19:45 on Monday.

Make it so,
Captain Crothers

Week 3 - Undiscovered Countries

E-mail sent by Member 205b955, Friday, 4th May 2018 @ 6:39pm

Hi Everyone!

I can't believe it's been a year, but it's election time! We've had a great time running the ship, and we're really looking forward to handing over the reins and seeing what exciting new (or old) directions the new bridge crew take us in.

We'll be holding the elections on Monday, so come prepared to stand, vote and/or ask searching or amusing questions! All positions (Captain, First Officer, Tech Officer and Morale Officer) are open and it's not a huge time investment, so it would be great to see all of them filled so the society can keep running smoothly and generally being fab.

The theme this week is "Undiscovered Countries" - I've no clue who'll be making the next post here (excitiiiing) but I'm looking forward to (tenuous link incoming) discovering, so let's nominate and vote for episodes about new inventions, discoveries or forays into the unknown (likely with potentially disastrous consequences, which I'm sure *won't* be predictive of the new bridge crew).

We'll be meeting outside St John's at 19:45 as usual!

LLAP (for the last time!?!),
Captain Le Croissette

Trinity week 2

E-mail sent by Elizabeth Griffiths, Sunday, 29th April 2018 @ 9:19pm

Hi everyone,

It's week two already and exams are creeping ever closer for most of us. This week's theme is "Defending the fort" - any episode which involves take over of the ship/station and a (preferably heroic yet humerous) defence by the crew.

Meet outside John's at 19:45 as usual, hope to see you all there!

LLAP,
First Officer Griffiths

(Also please find attached the issue of TTBA, the Cambridge Science fiction society's magazine featuring the Oxford Star Trek Society!)

Trinity week 1

E-mail sent by Elizabeth Griffiths, Sunday, 22nd April 2018 @ 9:23pm

Hi guys, welcome back for Trinity term!

Our esteemed captain has left me in charge for the next two weeks, so in preparation for impending exams this week's theme is overcoming adversity. Whether it's studying for a star fleet entrance exam or trying to communicate with an alien species star trek is full of challenges, so get you suggestions up! (episode descriptions as well please!)

Meet outside John's at 19:45 as usual - see you all there!

Week 8 - Film Night

E-mail sent by Member 205b955, Saturday, 3rd March 2018 @ 11:04am

Hey Everyone,

Term is once again drawing to a close, and to cap off the year we've had so far of Discovery and some questionable episodes of Trek (it's your choice whether or not those categories overlap) it'd be great to watch a fun film or two-parter. Do jump onto the group: www.facebook.com/groups/8731153518 and nominate/vote for your choice of feature-length fun!

We'll be meeting at Teddy Hall at 19:45, there'll be snacks, and it'll be a great end to a fun term.

If you've signed up for the Atomic Pizza trip, please do make sure to go, and if you haven't paid for/collected stash yet, I should have sent you payment details - we'd really appreciate it if you could ASAP!

LLAP,
Captain Le Croissette

Week 7 - Voyager

E-mail sent by Member 205b955, Sunday, 25th February 2018 @ 2:35pm

Hey everyone,

We're racing through the term and (tenuous link incoming) at this point I'm just aiming to make it home - let's watch some Voyager (yep told you it was tenuous...). Jump onto the group and nominate/vote for episodes, maybe leaving a comment justifying your choice.

We're meeting at Teddy Hall (St Edmund Hall) at 19:45 on Monday as normal.

LLAP,
Captain Le Croissette

Week 6 - Guinan

E-mail sent by Member 205b955, Saturday, 17th February 2018 @ 10:57pm

Hey everyone,

By popular request we're gonna have a week focussing on (debatably) the best bartender in Trek (possibly because she has some fab episodes associated with her - Whoopiiiii). So nominate/vote (on the group) for an episode starring/featuring/mentioning Guinan (and/or her amazing hat) - http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Guinan has a handy list!

We'll meet at Teddy Hall at 19:45 as usual :)

Hope to see you there!

Captain Le Croissette
(P.S. if you're struggling, Quark's fine too - just not anything where he wears a dress, marries a Klingon or reanimates a corpse...)

Week 5 - Out with a BANG!

E-mail sent by Member 205b955, Saturday, 10th February 2018 @ 2:45pm

Hey all,

It's the season finale of Discovery and I'm sure, given how the series has been so far, it's gonna be wild. Alongside this, hop onto the group and nominate/vote for some Trek that you think would make a fitting companion to what will hopefully be an explosive episode.

We'll be meeting on Monday at 19:45 as usual, at *Teddy Hall*.

As always, Geek Quiz is on Thursday - 8pm start at the Nazrin Shah Auditorium (Worcester College). See Rogan's post on the group for more details!

4th Week - Q (of any variety)

E-mail sent by Member 205b955, Sunday, 4th February 2018 @ 2:26am

Hey Everyone!

4th week is already here - doesn't time fly?! This week, alongside Discovery, we're going to be watching an episode featuring everyone's favourite omnipotent race of clicky-flashy-scarcastic people. Why not hop onto the group and nominate/vote for an episode in which a Q of any flavour takes part.

We'll be meeting at Teddy Hall this week (usual time of 19:45) - hope to see you there!

LLAP,
Captain Le Croissette

Week 3 - Inaprovaline, Hyposprays and Questionable Spores

E-mail sent by Member 205b955, Sunday, 28th January 2018 @ 3:52pm

Hey Everyone!

This week, alongside the next episode of Discovery (hype, hype), we'll be watching an episode centring around some sort of plague, illness or related medical malady (literally anything goes except space-lizard-disease so no Threshold please). Nominate an episode on the group (see bottom of email) and get voting!

We'll be meeting at John's at 19:45 - hope to see you there!

LLAP,
Captain Le Croissette

Week 2 - Brace for Impact II

E-mail sent by Member 205b955, Saturday, 20th January 2018 @ 11:31pm

Hi Everyone!

After the exciting change of plan last week, we're gonna have another shot at last week's theme. It's probably less poignant this week, considering the fires resulting from crashing into term have probably been extinguished by now... Still, let's start storing up our hope in case things get a bit tough later!

Please do nominate and vote for an episode on the group. We'll also be watching the next episode of Discovery (hypehypehype)

We'll be meeting outside ST JOHN'S at 19:45 on Monday! See you then!!

Also do remember the trip to Atomic Pizza on Saturday - check the group for more info.

LLAP,
Captain Le Croissette

1st Week - Brace for Impact

E-mail sent by Member 205b955, Sunday, 14th January 2018 @ 2:02am

Hi Everyone!

I hope that you've all had great breaks, and that you're all settled in and ready for the excitement/sense of impending doom/tired acceptance of your fate that Hilary can bring.

The move from vac to term can sometimes feel like a bit of a... well, traumatic crash landing (especially with for all of us with collections). Let's give ourselves some hope for the term and celebrate one of those many episodes in which a ship makes an unexpected landing (and hopefully in which one of our plucky crews pull together to make the best of it all). Please do nominate and vote for an episode on the group. We'll also be watching the next episode of Discovery, so get excited for that!

We'll be meeting outside Teddy Hall at 19:45 on Monday! Looking forward to seeing you all then :D

Captain Le Croissette

8th Week - Big Budget

E-mail sent by Member 205b955, Saturday, 25th November 2017 @ 1:53pm

Hey everyone!

We learned last week that the Denobulans have given up on the Silver Screen and "discovered their real lives were more interesting" - we at TrekSoc haven't quite come to the same conclusion! As is tradition, this week we'll be watching a film or two-parter - nominate/vote for one on the group (otherwise we'll be watching Into Darkness, which I imagine will be quite polarising...).

We'll be meeting on Monday outside Teddy Hall at 19:45 - see you there!

LLAP,
Captain Le Croissette

7th Week: I swear by Apollo the healer...

E-mail sent by Member 205b955, Sunday, 19th November 2017 @ 1:18am

Hey Everyone!

From Bat'leth wounds to missing lungs, doctors in Starfleet seem to be faced with enough weird an wacky maladies to fill a library of textbooks. This week we'll be nominating episodes focusing on our favourite doctors, be they holographic, ginger or just slightly sarky. Bonus points for stuff that would get their medical licence removed! We're back to two episodes until Discovery is back from the only Christmas holidays longer than Oxford's.

We'll be meeting at Teddy Hall at 19:45pm as usual, and as it'll be 5 days 'til Oxmas, there may be some festive treats! Have a good week until then :D

Do have a look on the group if you haven't seen info on the crewdate on Wednesday (Magdalen College lodge, 7:30pm, takeaway) - it's sure to be a laugh.

LLAP,

Captain Le Croissette

Week 6 - Something a little different

E-mail sent by Member 205b955, Sunday, 12th November 2017 @ 6:16pm

Hey Everyone!

This week is the half-season finale of Discovery, which I'm sure is going to be super exciting - we can look forward to that! I thought this week I'd be rogue - here's the link for the episodes that were broadcast and filmed on this day in years past: http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/13_November have a look and nominate something on the group, giving a brief reason why,:) There's a whole variety there, so whatever we get should be a surprise. Orrrrrr we could watch Sub Rosa - take your pick.

;)

We'll be meeting at Teddy Hall at 19:45pm!

Also stash is here, so I'll try and bring it down but there's a lot of it. Do be sure to pay Lizzy if you haven't already.

LLAP,
Captain Le Croissette

Week 5 - Something a little more fun

E-mail sent by Member 205b955, Sunday, 5th November 2017 @ 12:26am

Hi Everyone!

As most of you will probably be aware, it's 5th week. Now everyone says you're meant to have the 5th week blues, but I thought it might be nice to buck that trend/expectation. Nominate/vote for an episode that's going to be fun/get us laughing.

Good news also - stash has been ordered and will arrive sometime in the next few weeks

:D

We'll be meeting at Teddy Hall at 19:45!

See you then!
Captain Le Croissette

4th Week - Spook Trek

E-mail sent by Member 205b955, Saturday, 28th October 2017 @ 7:29pm

Hey everyone!

It's that time of year again - time to nominate and vote for the most spooky, scary and generally creepy episode of Trek. We'll be watching the next episode of Discovery too! I think we watched "Impulse" last year so no Zombie Vulcans this time.

Meet outside Teddy Hall at 19:45!!

Hope to see you there
Captain Le Croissette

P.S. Yes you're right that does say Teddy Hall - not St John's! Teddy Hall! (https://goo.gl/maps/gqw2sdX5JX62)
