Looking for a volunteer to take and supervise the TMC arch to support this event, it will be used as the start /finish for the ride. If you can spare a couple of hrs to represent TMC at this event please contact me.

Having enjoyed the Sunday SAG for the past 5 months we know need volunteers to SAG on the Sunday ride. Please check out the "SAG tab" on our web site and pick a Sunday when you could SAG. The Sunday riders greatly appreciate the SAG especially as the days are starting to get warmer. Please lets share this out and not rely upon 1 or 2 volunteers, if we all take a turn once only have to SAG one Sunday per year.

TMC - ITT series 2013

E-mail sent by Richard Clipson, Monday, April 22nd, 2013 @ 8:58pm

This years ITT series was a real nail biter with competition in both the open and age categories only being decide at yesterdays final event.

Big shout out to all the participants who ranged in age from 8 to 60+yrs young,nice to see everybody competing against themselves and their fellow competitors. Time Trials are not called the "race of truth" for nothing so congratulations to everybody who took part.
The course around the Bentson park area certainly appealed to all of the riders and we can only improve the series going forward, as organizer's we learned so much this year

Many thanks to the volunteers who without the ITT series would not have been possible and apart from the Time clock being blown over and a couple of riders who demonstrated there is also a 10mile route available if required!! Now if we can just control the wind for next time.

Please find attached the overall winners sheet, for individual race details visit www.teammcallen.org info available on the home page

All:

Tonight is the TMC monthly social at Roosevelts at Seven on Main Street starting at 6:30 p.m. Come out and have some fun with TMC.  Friends from all cycling groups are also welcome to join us for some cycling talk and just plain fun.

If you are participating in the final individual time trial of the season Sunday morning, you may sign up at Roosevelts and secure your starting time.  Who couldn't use a few extra minutes Sunday morning to warm up???

In addition to the individual time trial finals and awards Sunday morning, we will be having a farewell party for Bill Lang who has been so helpful this winter season.  Bill has sagged for TMC almost every Sunday this winter.  He will be leaving to go back to his home up north and we would like to take this opportunity to show him our appreciation and send him off with all the best wishes!

See you tonight!

Prayers for Big John

E-mail sent by Laura Alverez, Thursday, April 11th, 2013 @ 11:57pm

 Hello Friends!

Our Chaplin, Big John LaFara, will be undergoing surgery next week at DHR for a herniated disk.  He hasn't been able to ride because of the severe pain he has been experiencing for the past several weeks. I miss his prayers for our safety on each ride and look forward to seeing him and hearing his hearty laugh as we ride in the morning.  Please say a prayer for Big John that he will recover quickly and be back riding with us soon.

Happy Easter

E-mail sent by Richard Clipson, Saturday, March 30th, 2013 @ 4:29pm

Hope everybody is having a pleasant Easter and enjoying the good riding weather where every you are this wk end

Good news and bad news for the Sunday ride route. 1st the Good the stretch of road from Jackson to Cage east bound has been resurfaced and it is smooth, now the  bad the stretch from Cage to I rd right hand lane going east has been surface stripped and it is rough please ride through with caution.

Recent observations from Sunday SAG now that the groups are getting larger the rider pulling off the front on the left hand side is very exposed to both passing and oncoming traffic again please check before pulling off and return back into the pelaton safely - SAG see it better than we do but cars are passing us at 40+ mph in both directions unfortunately few take the opportunity to slow down.

If you want to ride the Oblate next Saturday 6th we are looking to rent 15 seat vans to run team members to the start in Brownsville if interested please let me know by Monday 2nd April so we can finalize the arrangements

Quick reminder 2013membership is $40/individual etc with details available on our web site www.teammcallen.org
membership includes insurance on scheduled club rides but only if you are a paid up member

Open Water Swim 30th March at Laguna Vista

E-mail sent by Richard Clipson, Monday, March 25th, 2013 @ 8:56pm

There will be an open water swim Saturday March 30th at 8:30 AM, It is not at Parrot Eyes, here’s the address:

258 Beach blvd, Laguna Vista, TX. Some may want to run and or bike afterward and that is fine, too

This is Karen Watt’s house at Laguna Vista, She also informs us that the water temp has been 73 to 75 so you might want to bring your wetsuit.

WE COULD USE SOME KAYAKERS!!!

One more thing

Enter water from Karen's dock, via a ladder. Swimmers should have water shoes to enter because the bottom is soft with oyster shells here and there. Don’t want any blood! They can then give their shoes to the kayakers. Need to emphasize the channel is narrow in areas, only 3.5-5 feet deep max, but stay off the bottom

Please RSVP - Dewayne Finn @ dfinn@rgv.rr.com or Cell: 956-451-0666 so they can get a head count.

No Karen’s not making breakfast tacos !!!

The wind does blow

E-mail sent by Richard Clipson, Saturday, March 9th, 2013 @ 2:32pm

Friendly reminder day light savings is this Sunday morning. So the Sunday ride will meet and start in the dark so bring your lights and the way the wind has been blowing recently a sail might also be a good thing!!!

With the time change comes lighter evenings which allows for riders to do either the Granjeno or 107 loop Tuesdays and Thursdays before the sun sets.

This coming Wednesday is the TMC officers meeting at L&F distributor's on McCall starting at 6.30pm, the meeting is an open meeting come along share your thoughts and ideas on the club. Couple of agenda items this month are ITT- 3rd round, this years SB 250 ride.

The next ITT is 24th March and this is hotting up to be a real competition, make it a date come and join in or cheer on the riders.

membership is available via www.teammacallen.org via pay pal or can be paid in cash or check at either a club meeting or Sunday ride
