Our club is for anyone who enjoys the sport of triathlon. Whatever your ability at swimming, biking or running you will find other triathletes at the club to do it with you and in a supportive environment like ours, you cannot help but get faster, fitter and have lots more fun. We have members from Elite through to total beginners – we all had to start somewhere!
If you want to start racing then we can help you choose where to start. Sometimes this can seem like a minefield to people new to the sport but one of our mentors can help guide you through this.
We are a division of Stratford upon Avon Athletic Club and are British Triathlon Federation (BTF) registered, so share a wealth of experience with these groups to make the very most out of every aspect of the sport. Membership of the Club is open to everyone.
You may train with us free for up to 4 weeks to see how you get on. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org In the first instance and we can arrange for someone to meet you at your first session. After 4 weeks, if you wish to continue, then you will need to become a member.
More About Us
The club currently organises sessions most days of the week but there are also informal groups who meet up for additional training, depending on their abilities – we support triathletes across the whole range of abilities.
We have a very active Facebook group where members share news, ideas, questions, races and plan extra training sessions – this is also a great place for plenty of banter and encouragement.
As a member you will receive our weekly Newsletter, sharing all sorts of triathlon related information each week including our member’s race reports.
Our training week looks a little like this:
Monday – this tends to be our evening track sessions at Stratford High School with 6:30 start for the beginners and 7:00 start for faster runners. We also have speed or hill training sessions, so shorter distances but focussed on making you a stronger and faster runner, these sessions could be at the running track, up a hilly road in Stratford or across the recreation ground or Welcome Hills in the summer time.
Tuesday – is a great day for cross training with circuits and/or core stability work available throughout the year or open water lake swimming in the warmer summer months at Ragley Hall.
Wednesday – this is our main club night, we meet at Stratford Sports Club at 7pm ready to set off for a run at 7.15pm, runners vary from 12 min milers to 5 min milers and everything in between, we can easily fit you into the right group so you can have a really enjoyable run of a distance you are comfortable with. Many members stay after their run for some food and/or a drink in the sports club bar afterwards – we are a friendly and supportive bunch. Showers are available.
We also organise club running races on the second Wednesday of every month, usually about 10k, the venue for this will change each month and club members are always notified via email.
Thursday – no formal sessions on.
Friday – no formal sessions on.
Saturday – we hold two coached swim sessions at Shipston Swimming Pool - 7am-8.30am or 2.30pm-4pm depending on your ability and training requirements. We also have runners meeting for a group run at 9am from Stratford Sports Club – there are two speed options available each week.
Sunday – we organise a group cycle ride from the sports club at 8am for mixed abilities. If suitable we may split the group into different abilities depending on riders speed and abilities. We also have a group run where they focus on long distance running, you can join in for as much or as little as you would like.
Please note – times and places of all these sessions are subject to occasional change – please check with us before you join your first session.
