 iddle East and South East As...ia.\n\nRichard pioneered the introduction o
 f insurance products within the Opportunity Network which lead to the esta
 blishment of MicroEnsure in 2006. As a leading insurance intermediary for 
 the poor\, MicroEnsure provides life\, health and weather index insurance 
 to over 2\,000\,000 people in seven countries in Africa and Asia. In Octob
 er 2007 MicroEnsure was awarded a $24.3m grant from the Bill and Melinda G
 ates Foundation to expand its pioneering microinsurance and experiment wit
 h a wider range of distribution channels.\n\nRichard also serves on the st
 eering committee of the ILO “Micro Insurance Innovation Fund” a $35m fund
