Under 13s - 28th July V Hawkinge (h)

We needed to the win the toss, bat, get a decent score - and win the game to stand a chance of 3rd place in this season Saxon Shore U13 League - which is exactly what we did !

Our openers didn't fire on this occasion - and it was left to Harry and Alex to bat very sensibly to get us moving towards a decent score. Harry was brutal in dealing with the bad ball - and Alex struck the ball quite beautifully through the offside and both were retirees in the middle overs of the innings. George continued the momentum and timed the ball very well and Barney continued with his Folkestone form to post another well-struck 21. Tristan also got his eye in and we finished on a healthy 142 for 4.

It was soon pretty clear that our attack was going to be too much for a very young Hawkinge side so Captain Jack shared the bowling around and they finished on 78 for 8 after their 20 overs.

The wickets were shared around but special mentions should go to Jemimah Greenwood, who bowled with maturity and picked up a couple of wickets in her second over - and to Harry Divers, who was enthusiastic all game and bowled accurately to pick up his first wicket for the U13s. I am sure it won't be his last !
