On a blustery, freezing cold and spitting rain Sunday morning the U11's took on a good strong Folkestone side.
Sibton batted first, and openers Louis Smith & Henry McCully got the team off to a steady start. The runs did come but this was mainly due to quite a few extras. This was accompanied buy a few wickets too. Good lively running by the last pair of Joseph Parry and Harry Divers got the Sibton total to 279 for the loss of 7 wickets.
A quick warm in the nice new Folkestone facility (Hot chocolate £2.20!!! WOW) and the Sibton team were back out and ready to bowl.
Some excellent skippering and excellent early bowling by Jack Divers & Piers Tatterton kept the early runs down, along with tight fielding.
The extras were kept down to a minimum with a good display of accurate pace bowling by Tristan Parmenter, Jermimah Greenwood, Henry McCully and Harry Divers made scoring very difficult. Again the field placing by skipper Joseph Parry was very good for this age and at the end despite a good crack, Folkestone finished 10 runs short on 269. Good knocks by district players Harry Staffod and Noah White for Folkestone are worth a mention too.
An excellent first win for the Sibton U11s - you can really see that all that coaching (I think the kids call it "boring stuff") has really paid off - bowling runs ups in particular noted as a vast improvement which in turn helps the bowling accuracy. Still need to work on runs, judging runs and running.
Well done to all.
