A great win for the 1s this week against Bickley Park, with both sides looking for the win.
Steven Rowe bowled exceptionally well taking 3 for 13 from 11 overs, with Mikey James taking 3 for 29 after a sticky start.
Bickley struggled batting first to 129 after being 59 for 6, mainly thanks to Phil Browning 23 and Barry Hooper who batted very well for 30.
In reply Sibton also were in trouble as Bickley overseas Dan Magin bowled an excellent spell and was very quick. However Jake Benfield soaked up lots of pressure for 22 after Tim Bishop got a start for 19. As wickets continued to tumble it was left to Steve Hickmott to dig in and see it through, and with stand in skipper Steven Rowe saw Sibton go past the totals in the 45 over. Hickmott finished with 38 and Rowe 22.
An excellent win, although too many four balls were served early on.
Meanwhile the 2s had a testing trip to Gore Court. Batting first Gore Court made 152 for 8. Gareth Meers, 2 for 36, Ryan Meers 2 for 22 and skipper Trevor Lewis, 3 for 35, the pick of the bowlers. Keeper Terry Dunham took 4 catches and got a stumping.
In reply Dunham went nuts and scored 50 very quickly as the score was on 59. A flurry of wickets and Sibton were struggling. However, Ryan Currie steadied the ship and assisted Dunham, as Dunham continued to bully the bowlers before getting out on 97. The score tied Tugboat was bowled for 28, leaving Gareth Meers to hit the winning single.
A deserved and needed win for the 2s.
Sunday saw a friendly against Ramsgate Corinthians - with 9 players. The result is to follow.
Next week the 1s are away to Whitstable and the 2s at home to top of the table Catford Cyphers.
