Wheyyyy, what a weekend.
The 1's travelled to Blackheath in the chuckle bus.
Hobo won the toss and decided to bat. This was looking like a bad decision as the Unicorn Jahid Ahmed ripped through the Sibton top order leaving them reeling at 36-5, 50-6, 82-7. Rowey and Gazza Meers come to the wicket. Rowey then played an amazing knock in the the context of the game, as the ex Kent pro Warren Lee put some effort in to remove him, was unlucky but got put to the fence too regularly. Meanwhile Meersey worked round Rowe, for 16, and then Newman for 6, as Rowester was finally out for a fine 74. The Sibton innings finished in the 54th over for 162 which was a low total indeed, but on a difficult pitch if you bowled in the right areas. Jahid finished with a well deserved 5 for 26 off 12, after an excellent spell of bowling.
In reply, Blackheath were off to just a bad a start, as the dangerous Zobie Shariff & keeper Alex Hammond were quickly back in the pavillion at 13 for 2, Rowey picking up both. At 78 for 5 Blackheath were struggling as Rowey picked up a 3rd wicket and the young left armer picked up 2 after a tight spell. George Wells was by now, very much in and looked comfortable, ably assisted by Dipayan Paul, also looking comfortable. Wells passed his 50 in a classy knock, but a rush of blood saw Paul dismissed as Rowey returned. Rowe then trapped Wells for a good 69, and then the rest crumbled after some excellent bowling, with Meersy picking up Warren Lee.
It was all over in the 33rd over to much elation of the away team, in an amazing game.
The ride home in the chucklebus was interesting as you can imagine.
Meanwhile at home, the 2's took on a young Holmsdale.
A great effort as Osborne made 91 not out, JK freshly back and looking fresh, 72 and Willy P a fine 48 not out, as Sibtom amassed a large 272 for 3.
In reply, Frankie Gush ripped out the top order, along with a Joey Fowler run out, and soon Holmsdale were all out for 95 in the 45th over, after a valliant effort by No 11 Moody. A good victory. Two wickets each for Tugboat and Joey, with Frankie picking up 4 for his efforts. (A good effort indeed)
So 20 big ones each for both teams.
Might be worth takinga picture of the 1's league table as it may be the only time you see it!!! (Maybe..)
On Sunday in the EKL, Sandwich were the visitors. Sibton batted first and made a good 259 for 5 with Bej top scoring on 68.
In reply, Sandwich amassed 259 for 4 - A tie for goodness sake!!
That man Vishual Singh top scored for Sandwich with 114, a classy player.
