A tight bitter sweet victory in the end for the lads.
Electing to field first the Sibton bowlers restricted Hythe early with some good lines and lengths from Bish Abeysekera and Josh Woodgate-White. Some excellent fielding from Owen Smith saw a run out and an excellent catch to peg Hythe back.
Unfortunately some later wayward bowling let Hythe off the hook as they achieved a decent 102 inc 47 extras in their 12 overs for 3 wickets, with another run out assist from Owen. Ben Brenchely kept wicket very well in difficult, at times, conditions. Only three boundaries were scored in the total.
In reply the Sibton boys kept cool and got off to a reasonable start. Bish Abeysekera & Ben Brencheley both getting 25 and batting well. Josh Woodgate-White was going very well too but unfortunately got run out, after some fine stroke play. Losing their way a little in the middle overs and trying to then catch up the runs then saw the Sibton composure go and wickets start to fall. Miles Clayton batted well again but unfortunately was out trying to hit needed boundaries, leaving the two retired batsman in at the end needing 14 to win off the last over.
The lads got within 2 runs being run out on the last ball trying to go for 2 runs, as Sibton were all out for 100 in their 12 overs.
Well played the Hythe lads who's bowling was very tight and they fielded well.
Unfortunately (or fortunately!!) an ineligible player did give Sibton the win, but they would have rather done it by getting the runs (and should have done it really) A bit more composure needed and don't panic - but the lads are learning and playing very well - it is good to see.
Next game the 26th February V Folkestone.

Unfortunately not so good this week, with a heavy loss.
Sibton batting first losing early wickets, with some silly run outs left the guys reeling at 30 for 5 in the 6th over (of 12 overs)
Miles Clayton batted well & sensibly and finished with 36 and Sibton pulled it round slightly to finish with 73 at the start of the 12th over. The only other runs of note was 13 from Bish.
Excellent bowling & fielding by Elham made it difficult, so credit to those guys who performed very well.
In reply, Bish got Sibton off to a flyer bowling the Elham opener first ball. However the Elham guys batted very well, pushing the ball to the sides and making runs comfortably, with two of their batters retiring at 25. Elham passed 73 at the 6th over, and went on to make 120 for 3 by the end of the game.
The Sibton guys bowled ok, but need to cut out the extras. Hopefully the guys learned from this ready for next time.
Again credit to Elham who played the game how it should be played so hopefully some of that rubs off on the Sibton guys too.
Miles Clayton picked up the two other wickets, bowling very well & kept it tight, so well played Miles.
No game now till the 12th February, but training continues for all age groups on Saturdays.

Seasons Greetings & ho ho ho etc,
After the successful AGM, we turn to think about Chrsitmas and the season ahead.
The Park will be open from 7.30pm on 23rd December for pre Christmas drinks. A good chance to catch up, have a chat, speak to the new skipper or anyone else you to speak to, even me!!
Unfortunately the Boxing Day opening in recent years has been ailing so the club won't be open, and likewise New Years Day. However if you want to you can open up providing there are enough people interested and you arrange it with Hickers.
So i'll see you on the 23rd. Let someone know if you can't make it though.
