Notice of Annual General Meeting – Saturday 21st February 2015, 7.30pm at the pavilion

Posted by Tim Smith, Tuesday, 10th February 2015 @ 12:03am

  • Dear Member

(Documents can be down loaded in the files section-only if you are a registered member)

Notice of Annual General Meeting – Saturday 21st February 2015, 7.30pm at the pavilion.

I am pleased to confirm that we will be holding a joined up presentation evening AND Annual General Meeting on February 21st at Sibton Park CC. All members are invited and encouraged to attend. It will start from 7.30pm and there will be food provided in return for a donation to the club.

At this new event we will be celebrating the successes of the 2014 season across the club, updating all members on how the club is progressing, introducing some future plans and electing a new management committee.

Please find enclosed the minutes of the last AGM (please note the date is incorrect but we are unable to change this as the document is password protected and the password has been 'mislaid'), the treasurer’s report and accounts, a list of nominations for the Officers of the club, other Management Committee Members and Captain’s of each playing XI and an agenda for the evening

Cricket is a great sport and we have a great club, and this is an opportunity to celebrate that and also, a great opportunity for all members to have a view on where we are going and see how to get involved.

Any other motions and nominations for the positions of Officers, other Management Committee Members and Captain's of playing XI's must be received in writing, by post or email, by me or the Secretary (Tim Smith) at least 5 days before the meeting and in the case of nominations these should be duly proposed and seconded

Should you be unable to attend, please advise me so that I may register your apology. If you are able to attend and haven't notified me yet, please do, so that we can organise enough food.

Finally, as ever, if you wish to be removed from this mailing list, please let me know

Thanks, and I look forward to seeing you on Feb 21st.

    Steve Hobbs
    Chairman SPCC

2015

Posted by Tim Smith, Thursday, 1st January 2015 @ 1:07pm

  • Greetings all,

    And Happy New Year.

    Just a few brief notes that have come up that need highlighting as we move in to 2015;

Kalibazar (IMPORTANT) – As you may know Kalibazar is our on line kit shop provider. In December their site was hacked and it appears credit card/debit card details have been accessed. We’d urge you to check your bank account if you have purchased kit on line as it appears a few clubs and indeed our own members have had money taken that thy have not authorised (Seems to be for mobile phone top ups, Vodafone & O2, that they do not have). Do please check your bank account status and inform your bank immediately or any discrepancies.
A decision will of course need to be taken on whether to continue with this supplier or search for a new kit supplier. Details will follow.

2015 brings Cricket week in August – Details will follow but we’d urge you to offer your help as much as possible to help.

AGM – Details of the AGM will come soon, but please if you’d like to be involved in the running of the club, Senior or Junior, do step forward and let Steve Hobbs know – there are various jobs that now sit vacant and require filling.

That’s about it for now, lets look forward to a healthy & prosperous 2015 and remember as our Chairman says “ Winners never quit”

    Hi everyone,

Many thanks to those that had opted to play and apologies to anyone that the cancellation will inconvenience.

Shepway Community Chest

Posted by Tim Smith, Thursday, 8th May 2014 @ 8:12pm

  • At the end of 2013 we were fortunate to be awarded £1000 from the Shepway Community Chest.

This went towards the purchase of the new lightweight mobile net and hit up net, which when the weather improves, we can use.

This should make life easier for all, but particularly the Juniors, with the lightweight and manoeuvrable net.

A big thank you to Shepway District Council.

  • Sledging (from an officials view) - easiest best way is to say nothing and just beat your opposition in to a pulp or at least go down fighting - with a smile on your face.

2014 Tea rota

Posted by Tim Smith, Saturday, 26th April 2014 @ 4:13pm

  • See attached tea rota for 2014 – any questions please contact Adrienne

The simple rule is, if you are unable to do a tea for whatever reason please make your own arrangement with another person or ask someone nicely to do it for you.

A copy of the list will also be put up in the pavilion.

Big News - Sport England Funding

Posted by Tim Smith, Saturday, 19th April 2014 @ 12:54am

  • As you may be aware the club was fortunate to receive some Flood Relief funding from Sport England to the tune of £1911 to go towards the clearing up & repair work carried out.

What you wouldn't have known was back in November your committee applied to Sport England under the Inspired Facilities fund for replacement of the old & tired timber windows & doors, and the long needed upgrade of showers & toilets with decoration to the changing areas.

Well we are pleased to announce we were lucky enough to be awarded the monies from Sport England to allow us to carry this all out - how good is that.

Works are likely to start fairly soon on the window & door replacements but the changing, shower & toilet refurbishment is likely to be carried out now after the season.

Speak to one of the management committee if you want to know more.

Outdoor training and early fixtures

Posted by Tim Smith, Thursday, 10th April 2014 @ 9:44pm

  • Dear all,

Just a brief message to let you know we will be attempting the first outdoor session this coming Tuesday 15th April. 5.30 to 6pm start, basically as soon as you can get there. It will unfortunately only be in the nets as the outfield still isn’t quite ready following the floods, but Mr Kirk will advise us further on that.

Obviously the light will fade too at this early stage but it is important to get as much training and early games in as possible.

Going forward, a discussion needs to take place as to whether Tuesdays is the best night for all to train or Wednesday – You will have to discuss it amongst yourselves.

As you are aware the early games that were at home will probably be away – keep in contact with Rowey and Adam in this regard or keep an eye out on the website or Facebook for information – but please don’t wait to be contacted if you don’t hear, speak to someone.
Fixture cards will be available soon.

The first fixture is a week Saturday, 19th June V Ashford Town 2pm start – as Rowey is away in Barbados at the moment, please can you let either Adam (Lambo) 07956 131075 or Hickers (Steve Hickmott) 07813 340066 know your availability. This will be a strong fixture as they have a few good players back.

    So please get back to them ASAP on this but also on these other games;

    Saturday 19th April – Away V Ashford Town – 2pm start
    Saturday 26th April – Away V Willesborough – 1.15pm start
    Saturday 3rd May – Both 1s & 2s Away V Folkestone – 1s start at 12.00pm 2s start at 1.15pm
Sunday 4th May – Away V Hythe 2.00pm start (Please contact Paul Woodward for this)

The following week league starts with the National Village Knockout away on the Sunday (Opponents yet TBC)– Again home games will need to be confirmed as the ground is unlikely to be ready. Keep in contact with the skippers and website.

It is far easier all round turning up to sessions to communicate and speaking to people rather than communicating via email or text so please make an effort to get up intially.

Under 15 guys & older and ladies – This is an ideal oppertunity for you guys to get involved and get some early form. Be nice to get you in the team. Pass the message on please.

Please don’t reply to me but contact the relevant person.

    Thanks

    Smudger
