For those of you already registered, please stand by for further guidance regarding reimbursement of your registration fees.

In the meantime, thanks so much to all of you in the field, as well as the folks who have been actively involved with the production of the course, our invited guest speakers and the Lackland Gateway Club and Billeting staff who have been so flexible with the chain of events this year.

    DAL/Membership:

    Principle Area of Responsibility:

Primarily responsible for new membership and membership related issues.

Membership:  Primarily responsible for improving our membership and responding to member questions.  By improving, I mean thinking of ways to grow our membership.  Some folks like to get out there and meet new people and help bring them into the group.  The Membership Director is such a person, but also brings new idea to the table for things to make our members happier.  Whether it`s just sending out a simple mailer or helping coordinate a membership drive, any ideas that others have for making the membership a better place generally go through this DAL.

    General Areas of Responsibility:

The Director at Large wears many hats within the organization and assists fellow Board members as requested. The experience gained in this position is useful in obtaining more prominent roles within the organization.

    _________________________________________________________________

    DAL/Communications:

    Principle Area of Responsibility:

Primarily responsible for communications to the membership, mailing list maintenance, and postal issues.

Communications:  Primarily responsible for maintaining the mailing list.  We all can have a part in the general upkeep such as passing on who`s addresses changed, who`s e-mail needs updating and so on, but it`s this DAL that hold the responsibility to keep the list as current as possible.  One thing this DAL has done inthe past, for example, is: when an e-mail for an AD member returns undeliverable, the DAL can make use of resources such as the Global Listing and other e-mail contacts to help locate the member and make sure they are getting the most for their membership

    General Areas of Responsibility:

The Director at Large wears many hats within the organization and assists fellow Board members as requested. The experience gained in this position is useful in obtaining more prominent roles within the organization.

    DAL/Activities:

    Principle Area of Responsibility:

Primarily responsible for helping plan CME activities and fund raising activities.

Activities:  Every year, we hold a conference.  It is generally the CME Chair`s responsibility to plan and coordinate the events, but this DAL is the oversight for that.  This is an important position because it`s this DAL that helps plan the CME for not only the coming year, but also the coming years.  some things, like Hotel space, require more than a year advance planning.  This DAL position (like the others) is a 2 year job enabling the DAL to reach out past this year and help plan for the future.  Also, being the CME Chair is no picnic.  It generally should be a 2-man show just because one person can`t be everywhere and these things take a lot of planning.  This DAL also works with the Newsletter Chair and other organizations to make sure the CME is properly publicized.

    General Areas of Responsibility:

The Director at Large wears many hats within the organization and assists fellow Board members as requested. The experience gained in this position is useful in obtaining more prominent roles within the organization.

AAPA Offer Military a discounted membership option

Posted by Donald Mason, Sunday, March 10th, 2013 @ 5:47pm

  • Active Military PA Membership

    February 27, 2013

    Background

The US military and the physician assistant (PA) profession have long been intertwined. When Eugene Stead Jr, MD, developed his concept of a new health care provider, the first people chosen as students were former military corpsmen.  In 1965, four ex-Navy corpsmen entered the Duke University Physician’s Assistant Program — the first PA training program.

In recognition of our history and of the service military PAs provide our country, AAPA would like to recognize PAs in active military service by offering a special military-only discount on Fellows Membership dues.

Both the AMA and the NMA offer discounts for active military physicians.  AAPA’s discount is comparable to these organizations.

Currently, we estimate that there are 548 PAs in active military duty today.  Of these, 171 are currently members of the AAPA.

    Active Military Fellow Dues Program

    $200 ($75 savings), $375 multi-year renewal ($100 savings)

    Business Rules

    ·         Discount is available to all PAs who qualify to be a Fellow Member.

    ·         Discount must be validated through an active military email account that has a .mil domain.

    ·         Discount is effective for all new and renewing PAs immediately

    ·         Current Fellows who qualify for the discount and have already paid the full fellow rate will be refunded the difference upon request.

    ·         Military Fellow Members who no longer have an active .mil email account will revert to Fellow Member status.
