Our club has been around for several years now. Our club was originally formed by a small group of people showing their pug dogs in AKC (American Kennel Club) competition ! Our club has grown to include many “non-show” people as well, after all, you don’t have to show your pug to enjoy it! Our main goal is just to have fun with our dogs and share our love and joy of pugs with other “pug people”.
What We Do -
We have monthly meetings, currently on the second Sunday of the month alternating the site at Johnson Corner and at a Denver restaurant to accommodate our wide area range of members from Cheyenne to Colorado Springs. We will occasionally hold our meeting at shows just for convenience. We put on “matches” where any pug can compete and have fun with their dogs, meet and talk to other pug people. In the past our club hosted two western Regionals, and the Pug Dog Club of America National Specialty (just imagine, over 200 pugs in one place!). In 2011 we held our very first Specialty at the Ranch in Loveland.
We provide a resource, available to all pug people, for reputable breeders, the care of, and problems related to pugs. Our club also sponsors Colorado Pug Rescue (CPR) that helps pugs in need in Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. Our web site provides access to not only our club and it’s members but also links to other clubs around the United States. The web site is a work in progress, so don't hesitate to contact us if there is something you can find on here or have an idea. We will usually have upcoming events for the club and CPR. We strongly encourage “non-show people” to join and participate in our club! The most important thing about pugs is to love and have fun with them!
