Welcome to the new Riffs and Rants Administration system. For your convenience (and ours) we will now be running under an automated online system. We have done quite a lot of research into online management systems and anticipate nothing more than ‘teething problems’ as we transition into 2012. That said, we thank you in advance for your patience and understanding should anything go askew and we look forward to working with you to iron out any bugs that may indeed be found.
2012 will be an exciting year of re-development for Riffs and Rants. In 2011 we reduced student numbers from 120 to 80. This year we will again be reducing student numbers, this time by half and therefore will only be offering 40 places. This means that some students will miss out on places. We have already moved some students to a wait list however we still have 65 students and only 40 places. We have decided to allocate places on a first paid basis, hoping this (whilst arbitrary) system might make it easier for us to decide who has a spot and who doesn’t.
I am offering less student positions, and for this term will not be employing other tutors, at least initially in 2012, so as to ensure a continuation and even more personal attention and tailoring to the music programs of my students. On a personal note, this will also allow me to allocate time towards professional development and the exploration of further career options, recording and performing.
As most of you are aware 2011 was a very trying and often difficult year for Riffs and Rants and both Sam and I, and it has forced us to make some very hard decisions. We anticipate these amendments to our Terms and Conditions will be met with resistance and we hope you understand we need to earn an income. Without these changes music lessons are not viable and wouldn’t continue. That said we are looking to merge with another music school in 2012/2013, so a number of changes have also been made to bring us in line with their practices and policies, and of course we will keep you updated.

Riffs and Rants
The changes are effective immediately and are as follows:
Riffs and Rants will no longer subsidise lessons or offer scholarship/ ambassador programs,
Fees have increased to $60 per individual lesson hour ($30 per ½ hour lesson) exclusive of GST
Riffs and Rants has de-registered for GST so fees for Term 1 do not attract GST, you will be updated if this changes.
An enrolment fee is now payable each term and covers admin and finance charges and material fees.
Riffs and Rants is now using an externally managed administrative system and PayPal for payments, cash and cheque payments will no longer be accepted.
All correspondence regarding lesson fees, times, terms and conditions must be in writing and forwarded to or PO Box 209 Braidwood NSW 2622.
Absences must be notified to or SMS to 0420655986. 24 hours notice is the minimum notice to prompt a make-up lesson offer.
Riffs and Rants is unable to offer credit to any student and all fees must be paid in advance of lessons in either term or fortnightly packages.
Fortnightly packages include a premium and only confirm 2 lessons in advance, but bind you to the term.
Lesson times will be allocated and offered on receipt of payment only.
First offers will go out on Monday 23 January. All subsequent places will be offered on a first-paid basis from Tuesday 24 January.
Term 1 lessons will commence week starting 30 January.
