7:35pm LEGACY OF THE BLACK PHARAOHS  Presentation by Kay Leather

An assembly of huge stone slabs and a calendar circle have been identified in Egypt’s Sahara Desert at Nabta Playa.  The site has been confirmed by scientists to be the oldest known astronomical alignment of megaliths in the world.  Nabta Playa was once a large basin in the Nubian Desert, at the gates of Black Africa, occupied by humans from about 6,500 to 6,000 years ago.  Egyptian and Nubian cultures interacted over the millennia and Nubian pharaohs ruled Egypt during the 25th dynasty.  This talk looks at the Nabta Playa site and its possible legacy in neighbouring Egypt.
Kay presented these recent discoveries at the Autumn Astrocamp.  If you missed out this is your opportunity to see this excellent presentation.
