Location: Stonehenge Aotearoa
7:00pm, Stonehenge Aotearoa
The Summer Solstice is the day upon which the Sun is at the height of its power. But, it is also the beginning of the waining of the Sun. From this day onwards the hours of daylight will decrease.
In keeping with the ancient tradition of Litha, the celebration of the summer solstice, our evening begins with a shared meal - please bring a plate to share with others, (and liquid refreshment). This will be followed by the ancient Celtic ceremony within the circle of stones and, weather permitting, viewing the Sun set over the Rongamai-taharangi heel stone.
The ceremony will be followed by socialising and music (bring an instrument).
Fee is $20 for adults, children (pre-teens) free. However, if you are a member of the Phoenix Society the fee is just $10 or, if you come as a helper, its free.
