Stonehenge Event: Saturday 24 September at 5 pm

Saturday, 24th September 2016 at 5pm - 9:30pm

Location: Society ClubRooms

This event is in the past.

In the ancient world the Spring Equinox was a time to celebrate… it was the
time of the return of life on Earth following the harsh northern hemisphere
winter, the restoration of food supplies. For much of history it marked the
beginning of the year and to this day it plays a major role in world religions. In
this presentation we explore the stories from antiquity of how our ancestors
explained the nature of the universe, which formed a foundation to world
religions.Weather permitting, the programme will include viewing the Sun set
over the Equinox Heel Stone. You are welcome to bring food and drink for a
sunset meal.
Bookings are essential. Fee (public): Adults $15, Seniors $12, Children $8;
Phoenix members: $8 ($4 for children)
