What could be the first annual East/West Rendezvous took place the week of February 12 2012 in the British Virgin Islands. Dennis and Karen McInnes traded Southern Cross, their Tartan 33 lying on the hard in Port Stanley for Little Ben, a Beneteau 35 sailing the pristine waters of Sir Francis Drake Channel out of Road Town, Tortola, BVI. To ensure they could handle the extra 2 feet they added Steve and Terry King as crew to enjoy the sailing experience. Meantime Don and Nancy Morgan, Mr. and Mrs. Commodore of the False Creek Yacht Club in Vancouver BC chartered Sosume, a Jenneau 42 and invited Wayne and Maxine Kentner, commodores of the Port Stanley Sailing Squadron to join them. Cruising with friends, old and new, in pristine waters, under sunny skies, in mid-February…….what could be better??
If joining an East/West Rendezvous in 2013 appeals to you let’s talk about it. It’s a great way to meet new sailing buds, learn about our country and survive our winter.
Have you heard, Paul and Paula Watterworth are looking to move up to a bigger boat in anticipation of some serious blue water cruising in a couple of years. Not wanting to be a fleet commander that means Shoofly is on the auction block. She's a pretty 20 something old CS 33. If you know anyone interested please let them know.
