TREC PoR (orienteering) On Foot Competition
Sunday 6th May 2012, Biggar / West Linton area
Prepare for the season ahead and get you map head in gear!
This will be a PoR competition, on foot, and will follow the same format as a ridden PoR; i.e. map room,
speeds (much much slower than ridden), checkpoints etc. A great chance to get your map head and eyes in
gear before the full TREC season starts, without the pressure of riding!
There will be 2 classes, a ‘coming up to my first TREC and panicking’ class and ‘done one before and
want to just refresh myself pre the full season start’ class! If there is demand we will also add a short
bearings section for those who want it. You can walk individually or in pairs.
You will be out walking for about 3 – 3.5 hours so make sure you dress appropriately for that, the route might
include uneven ground so good stout walking shoes are recommended. (No running is required!!) Tea and
coffee will be provided at the start and finish as well as some cookies and home baking.
You can bring your dogs if you like but they will need to be on the leash when and if you cross fields and you
should pooh pick etc as you normally would.
Bring what you need for snacks / lunch. Hi Viz is compulsory (but no hard hats needed!).
Numbers will be restricted so get your entries in early. I will send details of where to meet for start before the
competition, but it will be in the West Linton / Biggar area.
This a not a PDRC event so please contact Carolyn Macdonald if you require further information
Complete booking form (link below) and return to Carolyn Macdonald, Police Station House, Bogsbank Road, West Linton, EH46 7EN.
