NOTICE TO ALL HORSE RIDERS TO AVOID THE CADEMUIR AREA on two dates - Sat 12 August & 16th Sept 2017
The local running club Moorfoot Runners is again organising the Cademuir Rollercoaster hill race which will be on the corresponding date as previous years, namely the afternoon of Saturday 12 August 2017. There will also be another event on our Rollercoaster race route on Saturday 16 September 2017.
We have the requisite land access approval for both these dates from the landowners the Wemyss and March estate and Cademuir Farm. The race route mostly follows the John Buchan Way and surrounding paths in a figure-of-eight loop from Morning Hill to the Cademuir summit and back. See here http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/?r=6311786
Please could you help by making the local stables and potential casual horse users aware of these two events to make sure that there is no conflict of use. We will be marking the route from the day before with red and white tape and yellow directional arrows. The Rollercoaster races should be finished and the route cleared by 4.30pm on 12 August. The international races will start at 10.30am on 16 September so we should be clear a bit earlier c. 3pm.
I have not been up that way for a while but I gather from the landowner that there is a bit of horse erosion on some of the Cademuir paths that we use. Obviously we will be checking the route for safe running nearer the time. This is perhaps a bit cheeky of me but it would also be of great assistance to us if in the week or so prior to the races, larger groups could try and avoid the main paths if the ground is soft and liable to churn up.
Thank you in anticipation.
