We still need one or two helpers for the Showjumping next weekend, Sunday 19th of February. This means YOU.
We can't run events without volunteers helping out. It's not onerous, you get to meet other members of the club, and if everyone helps out at just one or two events through the year we won't have any problems. Please volunteer if you can - it'll only take three or four hours (set up from about 10am, and clearing away by about 2pm or so at the latest). We really can't do it without you.
The clnic went ahead despite the gloomy forecast for the Saturday afternoon. The theme for this clinic was to get the riders to take responsibility for the quality of the canter and the line and for the horses to take responsibility for jumping the fence. The first two lessons braved the conditions in the outdoor arena, starting with exercises to get the correct level canter on a soft rein before tackling an exercise of 5 jumps in an X, riding a related distance of 3 strides on curved line to a narrow fence and then another curved line to a third fence, which David says is a question a lot of XC course builders are asking nowadays.
Once the weather decided to turn even more horrid, we moved indoors where David changed exercises. He gave several club members kittens when he was getting them to walk in to a fence. This exercise saw all horses over the two days improve their technique and give riders chance to improve their position as well as riding through some gridwork.
Feedback for the clinic has been very positive, and hopefully, David will return to teach again later in the year as his time allows.
The Schedule has now been posted for the February SJ competition (rescheduled from X-Mas). Please get your entries in in good time.
We'll also need several "new" helpers - come along and help out. It's a great way to meet other club members!
Please see the Events page for details.
Membership is synchronised to the calendar year, 1st January to 31st December.
2020 Non-riding Membership
If you do not wish to participate in Club activities with a horse but do wish to support the club, please join as a non-riding member. This will ensure you are covered by BRC insurance at any PDRC events.
