Do you have a couple of hours to spare on Saturday mornings this spring and summer to help with RDA (Riding for the Disabled) sessions at Crookston Farm near Peebles?
Tweeddale RDA are urgently looking for adult helpers with some experience to bring in the ponies, groom them and tack up - as well as helping to supervise less experienced volunteers. You can also help during the rides by leading or side walking depending on the standard of the rider, then untacking and turning the ponies out again at the end of the morning.
Volunteers meet at 9.00 a.m. and are usually finished at 12.15 p.m. Dates for rides during this spring and summer terms are 5 April to 28 June, with no riding on 19 April (Easter) and 21 June (Beltane). You don't have to commit to every session!
November saw both Area 1 Indoor Team qualifiers scheduled; dressage at the 2nd of November and Showjumping at the 23d of November. In both competitions the PDRC team came 9th; although out of the rosettes still a very respectible result. Team spirit was great and in some cases members have already put their name forward for the summer team qualifiers! See the Teams page for more details and a full report.
